The Illinois Health and Hospital Association (IHA) hosted its annual Emergency Preparedness event on Nov. 5, giving hospitals and healthcare organizations around the state the chance to train for and assess facility-wide responses to a plausible MCI scenario.

IHA President and CEO A.J. Wilhelmi noted the importance of strong evaluation and collaboration. “This annual exercise is an example in how we prepare to succeed. Today is not about passing or failing, it’s about honest evaluation, collaboration, and strengthening our ability to respond under pressure.”

During Wednesday's Illinois Health and Hospital Association's (IHA) Emergency Preparedness exercise, IHA Assistant Vice President of Safety and Emergency Preparedness Keneatha Johnson opened by encouraging participants to use the exercise as an opportunity to see what’s working and to strengthen operations.

Several babies in the NICU at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora are celebrating their first Halloween with crochet costumes. Nurses at the center made handmade crocheted costumes for NICU babies for the third year. The babies were dressed as fruits, candy, animals and more.

The Decatur Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will hold a Holiday Market in November ahead of the hectic holiday season. Memorial Health announced that the market will take place from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the DMH Gift Shop, Barnes Lobby, and Coffee Connection, located inside the hospital.

For 100 years, Saint Anthony’s Health Center, a part of
OSF HealthCare, has been helping treat the residents of Madison, Jersey, and Macoupin counties. An open house was held to celebrate the event on Thursday, similar to the one held by the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George when the hospital first opened on Oct. 1, 1925.
