Our Story

The goal of orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon Richard J. de Asla, MD, and the team at his eponymous practice in Naples, Florida, is to provide comprehensive foot and ankle treatment to men, women, and families living throughout Collier County. Dr. de Asla has more than 18 years of experience diagnosing and treating foot and ankle-related health problems. He began his professional pursuits at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. He went on to serve on the Harvard Medical School faculty for 11 years. Since entering private practice, Dr. de Asla has served in various positions, including as the director of the foot and ankle orthopedic division at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. During his time there, Dr. de Asla performed the facilities' first-ever total ankle replacement surgery. Dr. de Asla is board-certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He's also the only Arthrexยฎ consultant in the Naples area and a reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. When he isn't developing treatment plans or augmenting his professional skills, Dr. de Asla enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. Outside the office, Dr. de Asla also enjoys traveling, running, cycling, music, boating, and photography. As a foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. de Asla takes an evidence-based, team approach to treatment. He proudly offers patients access to the latest advances and technology in the realm of foot and ankle orthopedics. Dr. de Asla routinely diagnoses and treats a variety of foot and ankle issues, including Achilles tendon pain, bunions and hammertoes, fractures, sports injuries, ankle arthritis, and trauma. Dr. de Asla also performs orthopedic surgery, including arthroscopy and foot reconstruction.
