Our team, comprised of board-certified neurologists/neurosurgeons and highly trained support staff in a specialized hospital environment, will work closely with your primary care veterinarian to provide unparalleled care to your companion. We will work with you, the pet owner, to ensure your pet’s neurological disease is clearly explained and the associated treatment options are thoroughly discussed. Every day we strive to make a positive difference in pets’ and pet parents’ lives. The SCAN Team recognizes that each pet and pet owner have an individual set of circumstances that can and should be the driving force in veterinary-related decision-making. For most of our clients, their beloved pet is also their family member, thus we will strive to provide pet owners with as much information as possible and counsel them to make appropriate, sometimes difficult, decisions about what type of treatment will be the best for their pet. Compassion will be the underlying theme in all of our diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations.

Sleepy from turkey? Not quite! It’s the fatty extras that can cause big problems for your pet’s nervous system this Thanksgiving. 🍗

Turkey contains tryptophan, which can make humans a little sleepy, but for pets, the real danger isn’t the tryptophan, it’s the fatty trimmings and skin. Fatty foods can trigger pancreatitis and, in some cases, lead to secondary neurological issues like tremors or weakness. Stay safe this holiday!
