Naples Comprehensive Health (NCH) has strengthened its emergency preparedness and infrastructure resilience with the installation of AquaFence flood barrier systems at both its North Naples campus and the downtown NCH Baker Hospital campus.

The deployment of AquaFence, a rapid-deployment flood mitigation system designed to protect critical facilities from rising water, reflects NCH’s continued investment in safeguarding patient care operations during severe weather events. The system can be quickly installed ahead of major storms to help prevent floodwater from entering key areas of the hospitals, ensuring continuity of care and protection of essential medical equipment and infrastructure.

Meet Marty and Pat, two NCH volunteers making a meaningful difference through service.

Pat has volunteered with NCH for more than 10 years, dedicating over 7,900 hours of service.

“Volunteering with NCH has been the most rewarding experience,” she said.

Pat especially values the moments spent calming the nerves of patients and families, helping them feel supported during challenging times.

Now, Pat is sharing that passion as she helps train Marty, who began volunteering just one month ago.

“Each week, I most look forward to the day I get to volunteer at NCH,” Marty said.

After her first month, Marty says the experience has already made a meaningful impact and encourages others to consider giving their time as well.

The NCH Healthcare System is an alliance of more than 700 physicians and medical facilities in dozens of locations throughout Collier County and southwest Florida. The services offered by the NCH Healthcare System are extensive. Inpatient services include: medical, surgical, cardiac, orthopedic, obstetric, pediatric, rehabilitative, psychiatric, oncology, emergency treatment, and diagnostics. Outpatient services include: rehabilitation, home care, walk-in centers, wound healing, and more. This year the system had 37,284 admissions, 87,100 emergency room visits, 3,033 births, 416 open heart surgeries, 11,282 surgical procedures, and 3,000 employee colleagues. NCH is a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
