So many of us experience liver dysfunction even if our labs look “normal”. Liver enzymes can appear within normal range and yet you may not be detoxifying optimally. You may also have a fatty or sluggish liver.

Did you know that organs need to move? Yes, organs need motility just as joints need mobility for optimal function. Movement is life and vitality for our entire body. Your liver moves with breathing and torso movements. It is “wrung out” and squished like a sponge with those mechanical movements of your body. Our sedentary lifestyle does not help our livers function optimally, nor does our toxic world.

If you have had chronic or serious acute exposure to chemicals, chronic alcohol or drug (yes, even prescription drugs) usage, viral infections, spike proteins, mold exposure, mechanical trauma to your rib cage and diaphragm, played football or rugby, experience or process a lot of anger, then your liver may be lacking motility and the tissues may be fatty or fibrotic (scarred).
Life has become SO very toxic that we should all pay attention to our liver function.

One amazing product we use A LOT in our office is Med Caps DPO. It must be used gently at first with a low dosage because it is a powerful nutrient blend that supports liver function. It can create a “healing crisis” or too much detoxification too rapidly if used at full dose initially. I have had many patients improve liver function and motility with this product, combined with the visceral manipulation we do in our office. It has reversed fatty liver and fibrotic tissues as evidenced by empirical data such as diagnostic imaging and lab data.

(I will caution you to ensure you do not have a “leaky gut” or intestinal permeabilty before engaging in any liver “cleanse” or detox protocol. Ask your integrative or holistic healthcare provider to help you if you are uncertain about your gut health.)

One recent patient of mine was having constant pain on the right side of his abdomen and chest over his liver area. It was a constant, dull ache of many years duration. He had a history of chronic alcohol usage yet had been in recovery for over 13 years. He had significant chemical exposure from military service as well. Liver enzymes were “normal” and imaging did demonstrate a fatty liver. His liver palpated a bit enlarged , very “stiff” (minimal motility) and point tender when I examined him. We engaged a spike protein detox and used Med Caps DPO as well mobilizing his spine, ribcage and liver with manual adjusting. One month into his protocol and he is no longer experiencing any pain, his liver motility is much improved and he no longer “aches everywhere” (another indicator of liver dysfunction). He has also been placed on a whole food based diet with minimal artificial products and counseled to reduce environmental chemical exposure at work and with body products.

I urge you all to consider the health status of your liver.

Ways to care for your liver health:

1) reduce chemical exposure via environmental, topical or ingestion
2) use organic and clean body products
3) eat liver!!! Organic and grass fed or wild game only, please. For the squeamish, use dessicated liver in pill form.
4) tart cherry juice- shot glass before bed helps sleep and liver function
5) drink filtered water when at all possible (NOT in plastic bottles!!). I prefer a home filtration system carried in glass or stainless steel containers.
6) reduce drug and alcohol usage
7) MOVE YOUR BODY
8 ) find healthy ways to process anger
9) infared saunas can be helpful
10) detox baths weekly or more
11) chlorophyll taken regularly for binding unwanted chemical byproducts in your gut
12) laugh more
13) reduce (try to eliminate) artificial foods, dyes, sweeteners
14) eliminate using bleach and harsh or dyed/scented cleaning products as well as w**d killers and toxic insect sprays
15) avoid any artificial fragrance like it is mustard gas! I am looking at YOU scented candles, bath products, Glade plug-ins, Febreeze, fabric softeners, dryer sheets, detergents, scented feminine products, most perfumes, air fresheners, etc.
16) Castor oil packs can also encourage proper liver functioning
17) consider herbs and nutritional products for a yearly detox- PLEASE seek advice from an experienced healthcare professional for your first cleanse.
18) eat beets in any form as they are fantastic for liver health
19) consider a social media and news detox every few months

Enhance detoxification with MedCaps DPO, a supplement in 120 capsules. Supports natural detox processes, promotes overall wellness, and cleanses the body.

A topic I rarely speak on, but have known about for many years-plastic in your teabags and the cause for concern. 😡🤨

“It all started with a 2019 Canadian study at McGill University (1) published in the Environmental Science & Technology Journal, which stated that steeping a plastic tea bag at a brewing temperature of 95°C releases around 11.6 billion microplastics and 3.1 billion nanoplastics into a single cup. Microplastics are tiny pieces of plastic between 100 nanometres and 5 millimeters in size. Compared to salt, for example, which has been also found to contain plastic, each cup contains thousands of times the greater mass of plastic, at 16 micrograms per cup.”

“Another study published in March 2023 in the International Journey of Surgery (3) cites a wide variety of health conditions, including endocrine disruption, reproductive toxicity, cancer risk, problems with metabolism and nutrition, and interference with neurodevelopment, as concerns related to microplastic exposure, particularly to those heated during processing, like tea bags used in million cups of tea over a lifetime.”

One should always consider using looseleaf tea as much as possible. However, that is not always a viable option.
This is a great article on why you should choose plastic free teabags and which bags are free of ick.
