http://www.totallifechiro.net Dr. Charles Weigel, Chiropractor Napoleon, ND, Specializing in family and pediatric care. I've been a Chiropractor in Napoleon for almost 15 years now. I was born and raised here and decided to return "home" to help benefit my community and the surrounding communities and to raise my children in a small town. I decided to become a chiropractor after suffering from con

stant headaches as a child. I got relief after being adjusted by a chiropractor. I want to help people of all ages with their health problems and teach them how to get well and live up to their full potential. I especially enjoy treating children and educating patients so they are better able to make informed health decisions for their family. At Total Life Chiropractic we aid individuals and families in finding their health potential by removing obstacles to the healing process. Nervous system interference (called subluxation) caused by physical, chemical, and emotional stress disrupts the delicate communication pathways between your brain and every tissue and cell in your body. By reducing the devastating effects of subluxations we help people of all ages from newborn babies to senior citizens live a healthier more balanced life.

Most parents are told it’s behavioral.
Or that they’ll “grow out of it.”
But what if it’s neurological?
Meltdowns.
Sleep struggles.
Sensory overwhelm.
Anxiety.
Focus issues.
These aren’t random.
They’re signs of a nervous system that may be stuck in stress mode.
Neurodevelopment happens from the bottom up.
And if the foundation isn’t regulated, the higher brain can’t fully do its job.
We can help break down:
• How the nervous system develops
• What dysregulation actually looks like
• What’s normal (and what’s not)
• And how chiropractic supports regulation naturally
If you’ve felt like something is being missed…
This might be the missing piece!

Ever heard the phrase “race car brain with bicycle brakes”?🏎️🚲
Some kids have brains that move fast. They think fast, feel big emotions, and react quickly. That’s the race car.
Inside all of us is a nervous system with two main “modes”:
⚡ The gas pedal (sympathetic system)
This is the part that gets kids ready for action. It helps them run, react, focus quickly, and protect themselves when something feels exciting, stressful, or overwhelming.
🛑 The brakes (parasympathetic system)
This is the calming system. It slows the body down, helps kids relax, regulate emotions, and feel safe again.
Some children have a very powerful gas pedal but brakes that are still developing. So when they get excited, frustrated, or overwhelmed, it can feel like their brain is a race car without strong brakes yet.
The important thing to remember:
Your child isn’t “being difficult.” Their nervous system just needs support learning how to slow down.
This is one reason many parents explore pediatric chiropractic care. Chiropractic adjustments help support communication between the brain and body, which can encourage the nervous system to shift out of “gas pedal mode” and into more rest, regulation, and calm.
Over time, those “bicycle brakes” can get stronger.
And that amazing race car brain?
It often comes with creativity, passion, curiosity, and big ideas. 🧠💡✨

What does anxiety really sound like for our kids? 🤔 Sometimes it can be very hard for them to verbalize what it is they are feeling in their bodies.
Sometimes anxiety can sound like:
“My tummy hurts.”
“I can’t sleep.”
“My head hurts.”
“I’m just tired.”
“I don’t want to get out of the car!”
And so much more..
Sometimes it looks like irritability, big emotions over little things, trouble settling down, or a kid who just seems constantly on edge. 🫨
Little bodies feel big stress too. And when the nervous system is overwhelmed, it often shows up physically before kids ever have the words to explain what they’re feeling. Those “random” tummy aches and bedtime or school struggles might not be so random after all.
Does this sound familiar for your child? We are here to help.

What are signs of dural tension in babies?
• Holding their head up too soon
• Not able to snuggle up to you
• Only like to face outward
• Hate tummy time
• Picky eating
• Gag easily and often
• Rolled very early and only 1 way
• Don’t properly crawl but love to stand
If this sounds like your baby, you’ll want to get their tension assessed. It can often be caused by a lip or tongue tie! It can be due to tension from the birthing process!

“Developmental milestones” aren’t just cute moments—they’re how your baby’s brain and body learn to work together 🧠✨
There’s a natural order for a reason:
rolling → sitting → crawling → standing → walking
Each step builds on the one before it. When babies move through these stages, they’re not just getting stronger—they’re actually wiring their brain.
The brain develops from the back to the front and from the bottom up. That means the basic movement and survival areas come first, then more advanced skills like coordination, focus, and problem-solving later.
Yep… crawling still matters 👶💛
Crawling helps connect both sides of the brain, improves balance, and lays the groundwork for things like posture, attention, and even learning down the road.
Let them take their time, move, and explore—those “little” milestones are doing big things
