We would to congratulate Kennedy Wylds as being nominated as our Employee of the Quarter. Kennedy has worked for Heritage House for almost three years. She started as a waitress, then Housekeeper, and then a Personal Care Assistant. When the position opened for a daytime Cook, she took the chance and she is now is our head daytime Cook that helps prepare and cook most of the delicious meals and homemade baked goods here.

Congratulations again, Kennedy!

National Love Your Pet Day is celebrated today and it's the perfect time to remind the community that we are a pet-friendly facility. We cater to both small and medium cats and dogs just like the Ordat’s furry baby, Snickers, and Gloria Mason's cat, Boogy.

Happy Work-versary to Charlie Perry and Anaika Jean! These two are celebrating one year of employment at Heritage House. Charlie works in our dietary department as a waitress while also attending NorthWood High School. Anaika also works as a waitress, but also helps in our housekeeping department as well.

We thank you ladies for your dedication in making Heritage House not just an assisted living, but a home to the residents here.

February is American Heart Month and it has become a nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness and promoting prevention through healthy lifestyle choices. Heritage House residents take an initiative every weekday with our exercise class. Residents lift weights, stretch bands, and even bounce a ball. These are just simple ways they are just staying on the top of their heart health.

American Heart Month is known to be celebrated in the month of February, but there is nothing saying that you can’t be on top of your heart health every month. Heritage House residents are offered once a month blood pressure and weight checks done by our Resident Services Director (who is also a Licensed Nurse). She manually checks residents' blood pressure and will listen to any questions they may have about their health.

This past Friday, our residents celebrated the day of love with our Valentine’s Day lunch. Residents enjoyed chocolate dipped strawberries and cherries and a special plated lunch with themed desserts. They enjoyed lunch while Mark R. entertained. Residents and staff members reminisced about past Valentine’s Days, marriages, and what true love is. We hope those young and old had a great Valentine’s Day! 💕

Today is the last day of National Marriage Week and Valentine's Day! We want to highlight our last married couple, Bill and Phyllis Reed!

They met each other when hanging out with friends at a local bowling alley and were married soon after on Valentines Day in 1959. Bill went into the Air Force while Phyllis worked as a secretary at Water Works department raising their two sons. Bill returned after four years of service where they moved to Indiana and had their daughter. Phyliss did a bit of work as a transcriber for Notre Dame while Bill worked at Studebaker. They retired and traveled for bit heading out west to the Grand Canyon.

We also want to wish these two a very Happy Anniversary today as well! Happy National Marriage Week to the Reed’s, and Happy Valentine's Day! 💕🫶

National Marriage Week is in its final days and we want to highlight another couple we have, Robert and Janice Neidigh.

These two have quite a love story meeting over 25 years ago when Jan was a friend of Bob's first wife when they did work together for the Hearing Loss Association. They stayed friends with the passing of each other spouses and after several years of going to the same church, sitting on opposite sides, Bob finally asked Jan out for one Sunday lunch. One lunch became many lunches and they were married in 2012. They did quite a bit of traveling when they were newlyweds and then settled into married life with each other.

We are wishing them many more happy days together!

Happy National Marriage Week to Dan and Kat Oradat! These two found love later in life and have spent their first year together enjoying the fun of being newlyweds. Kat met Dan at Elder Haus at Bible Study and after many days of talking, laughing, and spending time together, they were married in January 2025. They enjoy their days reminiscing about old times and of course spoiling their fur baby Snickers.

Happy National Marriage Week to the Oradat’s. We wish you many more happy years together! 💕🩷

This week is all about marriage and love with it being National Marriage Week and Valentine's Day week as well. A great marriage is not just when two people fit together perfectly, it is when these two people grow together weathering the hardships of life and love. It means growing older to become wiser and kinder side by side.

These residents know what it takes to make a marriage last with some reaching over 60 years together. Check out a few marriage hints from a few ladies that live with us.
