Today is Check Your Batteries Day and First Alert recommends that homeowners check the batteries in their smoke alarms about this time every year since we are already moving clocks for Daylight Savings.

At Heritage House there is no need to grab that ladder or chair because our Maintenance Supervisor, Joe, will take care of those smoke detectors for you every month checking batteries and testing to make sure they are working. Take time today to check you smoke detectors are well.

The fog didn’t stop residents of Heritage House to go out on their first van outing this week. The facility van drove to a local favorite, The Dented Can, so we could see what treats could be found. March can be a bit tricky weather wise so we are heading our at least once a week to other shopping favorites and some local restaurants as well.

Heritage House offers a variety of different activities for the residents to enjoy while living with us. During the winter months enjoying popcorn and movies, playing Wii bowling, and spending time together during bible study. Once the weather warms up residents start to enjoy time outside with van rides, musical guests, and outside activities. Some activities are timeless like co****le, Coffee Chat, blood pressure checks, and Soda Shoppe, but no matter what residents always come in and leave with a smile.

Are you ready to enjoy your golden years at Heritage House?

We offer maintenance-free living which means our friendly staff members will do all the outdoor yard work like shoveling and mowing and indoor work like fixing leaky faucets or carpet cleaning. We have several housekeepers who will clean your room from kitchen to bathroom while also washing your bed linens as well. Meals are never a problem with our restaurant-style dining room where residents can enjoy a continental breakfast in the morning and choose from our special or ordering off the menu for both noon and evening meals. Enjoy delicious homemade food without the all the hassle of preparing. We offer weekday activities ranging from exercise class, ice cream from our Old Fashioned Soda Shoppe, and Wii bowling so there is always something to keep you busy. We have Personal Care Assistants on 24 hours a day/7 days a week so there's comfort knowing a staff member is near by if you're needing a bit of extra care.

Heritage House has different room styles to fit anyone’s taste like this two bedroom for example. It has extra closet space, two bathrooms, and all the square footage you may need for those pieces that you can’t part with yet. All apartments receive housekeeping and linen service, meals from our restaurant-style dining room, and supportive care minutes when needed.

Ongoing training for Heritage House staff took place this past Tuesday afternoon for CPR re-certifications by Nappanee EMT, Sandra Witt. She spent time teaching skills and going over updated CPR techniques, chocking, and AED training as well. These staff members have all passed their tests and are recertified along with a few others not pictured.

Heritage House’s resident highlight for the month of February are Robert and Janice Neidigh! This couple has been with us for almost a full year in their two bedroom apartment. Both Bob and Jan are active in our morning exercise class, coffee chat discussions, and bingo. Jan is also on our winter bowling league. If you haven’t already introduced yourself please welcome them to the Heritage House family.

Residents enjoy when volunteers from the community come in and show off their amazing talents. We were blessed with some beautiful piano music during lunch this past week by Jill, from Caring Cove Hospice. We found out she is amazing piano player after her last bingo visit and she offered to stop in and not only play but sang as well. Thank you, Jill!

On let's hear from Roy Hoover about why he loves living at Heritage House! He moved into his studio apartment in August of 2025 and here is what he said, “I do love it here. The girls are so nice and I like that I can still go out and bring back donuts for them and myself. I am so glad that they have this type of place here."
