❣️Traditional Chinese medicine believes your period tells us SO much about both your internal and emotional state.

Ideally, the period blood should be a nice crimson red, void of clots or pain, and will typically last anywhere between 3-5 (sometimes up to 6-7) days.

The flow should be nice and even, typically heavier on days 1-2, and then slowly tapering off.

The color of your period blood tells us so much-so take note:
-Brown blood, sometimes present at the start and the end of the cycle can indicate stagnation, but it can also be present throughout the entire period, and can also indicate presence of damp/damp heat.
-Bright blood will indicate potential heat in the blood or uterus, while Dark blood with almost a purple tinge, often accompanied by dark clots can indicate stasis of blood and/or cold in the uterus-this is a common pattern we see in the case of endometriosis and dysmenorrhea.
-Pale red or pink blood can indicate that there is a deficiency of blood or a deficiency of the spleen which is failing to produce sufficient blood.
-Darker blood with small stringy clots can indicate Qi stasis- this can be trigged by stress or other internal elements blocking the flow of qi or stagnating the liver.

Start taking note of the color of blood each cycle and discuss it with me at your next appointment❣️

Meet Melinda Schwartz, L. Ac., Dipl. Ac., Acupuncturist & Owner of Sacred Scarab Acupuncture.

Shortly after college, as the stress level of her career grew, she began utilizing acupuncture as a way to help deal with physical and emotional ailments that were being caused by her stress. During this time, she fell in love with the medicine and realized that she wanted to learn more about it and help to heal others in the same ways she had been healed.

After 20 years in the corporate world, she attended the Won Institute of Graduate Studies and obtained her Masters of Acupuncture. Now, as a licensed and NCCAOM board certified acupuncturist, Melinda strives to bring the beautiful hope and healing that acupuncture can provide to her patients.

✨ The “acupuncture high” is caused by several changes in the body as a result of acupuncture treatment:

✧Higher amounts of endorphins

✧Decrease in stress hormones

✧Regulation of seratonin production

✧Stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system

☸️ Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM): The body has energy, called Qi, flowing through pathways called meridians; pain or illness = blocked or imbalanced flow. Acupuncture helps to unblock and restore balance in the body’s Qi.
