A pattern of coercive behavior that is used by one person to gain power and control over another in an intimate relationship. When we hear the term domestic violence, we often think of physical abuse. But there are so many more subtle forms of abuse that are harder to see, like verbal, emotional, intimidation, isolation, stalking, financial, spiritual, and cultural abuse.



You have the right to live free from:

threats to your safety, or the safety of those you love.
destruction of your property.
humiliation.
being treated like a servant.
forced sexual acts by anyone, including your spouse or partner.
control over what you do, who you see or talk to, what you read, or where you go.
extreme jealousy.
economic control.
