A friend of mine is starting a Men's Circle in the Nashua area. Here is a write up about his intentions. If you are interested in joining or learning more, please message me and I can connect you!
"Ten years ago, I was in a form of hiding. I was both insecure and arrogant. I wasn't taught emotional literacy. I was living subconsciously in fear. And, I was a workaholic.
In mens circles over the past decade, I have found support to...
leave a job that wasn't serving me
to improve how I communicate with my wife
to deepen the sincerity I bring to my kids
to set boundaries in relationships and ask for what I want
to heal childhood traumas
to overcome fears that kept me from pursuing my passion
to mourn the death of a close friend
to cry and to open my heart
to lead and support others on their journeys.
And...I continue to need support and help. We are all equipped to provide that support for each other, irrespective of our experience. Listening can be enough.
A circle in its simplest form is a group of trustworthy friends. Where judgement is suspended and space is held. Where in your own time you have the support to share your sacred stories. To navigate the challenges that you face and the burdens that you carry. Where you learn as much or more from witnessing others' work.
The format is usually quite simple. Four rounds of sharing over about two hours. We leverage processes and long-tested tools to explore the issues we are facing. I envision meeting on Sunday evenings once or twice a month in a location that is convenient to the group in the Nashua / Merrimack / Amherst area. I am busy as I expect you are, so we will keep the time commitment manageable.
If you relate to art, these two pieces speak to me about the intention of the work:
In a poem: The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer
In a song: Mercy Now
ManKind Project offers a good description of what a circle is (scroll to the bottom of their page: https://mkpusa.org/mens-group/). I plan to draw from some of their resources in our work, but also won't be limited by them.
I hope you'll make the choice to lean in."
