Heart of NH on WMUR highlights the volunteerism, generosity, and impact of Granite Staters making a difference.

This weekend, a powerful story of hope and selflessness from Southern New Hampshire Health was featured. Richard Tan marked Give Life Month by honoring Carrie Illg, the nurse practitioner who donated her kidney and saved his life.

Though both worked at Southern New Hampshire Health, they had never met before Carrie was tested and found to be a match. Today, after a successful donation and recovery, they are both back at work, forever connected by an extraordinary act of kindness.

⭐Corey Mathieu, PA-C, found her start at Southern New Hampshire Health as a new graduate in 2015, joining Immediate Care through a strong onboarding program that offered the support and guidance she was looking for. In 2019, she transitioned to Primary Care of Milford – Family Medicine, where she continues to make a meaningful impact today.

As a Physician Assistant, Corey supports the clinic’s primary care providers by seeing acute visits and managing chronic condition follow-ups. She also plays an important role behind the scenes with inbox management and process improvement initiatives designed to enhance patient care. Her work helps reduce provider and staff burnout, strengthens quality of care, and empowers team members to take an active role in decision-making that benefits patients and the broader community.

When asked what keeps her here, Corey shares, “The culture. I feel heard as a provider and feel that my voice and other providers’ voices can contribute to change within the organization when needed.”

Outside of work, Corey enjoys gardening, hiking, and painting, creative and active outlets that reflect the same care and thoughtfulness she brings to her patients every day.

Please join us in congratulating Meghan Finnegan from 3 West on receiving the High-Five SHINE Award!

This award recognizes non-nursing staff who lead by example and provide exceptional service to our patients, families, visitors, providers, and nurses. SHINE stands for Supportive, Helpful, Involved, Nurturing, Excellence.

Here is her nomination:
⭐"Tess and I were both so impressed with her willingness to jump into an unfamiliar setting and really hit the ground running. I truly feel she accomplished more in the 4 hours she was with us than many people would have in a 12-hour shift. West 1 can be challenging at times, but Meghan really took the initiative to do everything in her power to not only provide excellent direct patient care but also support Tess and me to do anything she could to make our jobs easier. Truly, Meghan went above and beyond and had a smile on her face the entire time. It was so refreshing to have her as part of our morning team.

Thank you, Meghan, for being so wonderful!

A national first is happening right here in Nashua.

The Surgery Center of Greater Nashua, part of Southern New Hampshire Health, is the first same-day surgical care facility in the United States to earn a new accreditation from DNV, recognizing the highest standards in patient safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

“Southern New Hampshire Health is honored to get this DNV accreditation, which recognizes our strong dedication to quality and patient care,” said Leanne Berube, Executive Director of Surgical Services. “The fact that we are the first in the U.S. to achieve this is a testament to how a community non-profit health system can bring patient care to the highest levels in the country.”

This milestone comes as the Surgery Center expands access to outpatient procedures and invests in advanced laparoscopic technology, helping patients experience more efficient, minimally invasive care with strong outcomes.

From coordinated care with Southern New Hampshire Health providers to a convenient downtown location with seamless follow-up, this is what high-quality surgical care looks like close to home.
