𝐷𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑣𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑏𝑒 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑒𝑎𝑡 "𝑗𝑢𝑛𝑘 𝑓𝑜𝑜𝑑"?

You know, those brightly-packaged, highly-refined, ultra-delicious “junk foods” from the center aisles of the grocery store?

The ones you might’ve been told to “cancel” from your diet?

Well, I’m here to un-cancel them. 

That’s because for some people, junk food can play an important role in overall health, especially when consumed ✨𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚. ✨

Controversial? Yes.

❗Your life is on hold until you reach a goal

💡Tip: Even though accomplishing a goal feels good, you likely don’t want the outcome as much as you want to become the type of person who gets that outcome.

When you stress eat, you're using food to solve a problem. 

Only it's a problem that food can't solve. 

Here’s a wild idea: Give yourself permission to eat whatever you want, but you HAVE to pay attention to why you’re eating those specific foods.

Use it as a learning experience.

Once you’re aware of the trigger, decide what to do about it.

🔍 But stress has health impacts whether you see it or not: ⁣

1. Stress intensifies hunger and cravings.⁣
2. Slows metabolism by suppressing thyroid production.⁣
3. Drains your energy, so you’re too tired to workout.⁣
4. Interferes with sleep.⁣
5. Makes it difficult to keep long-term goals front of mind.⁣

🫴 Before I even suggest strategies to help reduce stress for a client, it’s important to find areas WHERE the stress could be stemming from. For instance…⁣

🗣 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥⁣
Noise, crime in your neighborhood.⁣
🤥 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥⁣
Abusive relationships, disputes with neighbors, marriage problems.⁣
🏃‍♀️ 𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥⁣
Overtraining, nutrient deficiencies, dehydration.⁣
😣 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥⁣
Lack of focus, indecisiveness.⁣
🌍 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥⁣
English is your secondary language (or not speaking a country’s language), not knowing a country’s customs.⁣
😩 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥⁣
Anger, depression, anxiety.⁣
💸 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥⁣
Inability to pay bills, unsteady work.⁣
😞 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥⁣
Lack of meaning, hopelessness, despair.⁣

💡Once there’s more awareness of the stress load on a client’s plate, it becomes easier to explore ways to reduce the load to a more manageable amount. ⁣

"Isn't it just easier to not eat certain foods?" 

For some people, in some situations, at certain points in their journey: yes.

But this choice to abstain doesn’t have to be permanent. Once they develop a range of habits, many people can shift from abstaining from certain foods to having them in moderation. 

The point? There are different strategies that can help you get to your goals… without making you feel bad along the way.

Rather than ban the foods you love (and feel grumpy and deprived), embrace the subtle art of eating in moderation. ⁣

Think of it as the middle way between rigid restriction and “anything goes.”⁣

Here’s how:⁣

🍎Work towards consuming 70-90% of your calories from minimally-processed whole foods.⁣

🍪Think of the remaining 10-30% as discretionary calories. It could be 🍕🍩🍷or anything else that feeds your soul. ⁣

Comment your favorite food (or drink) you just can’t live without?⁣
