Sharing meals and breaking bread is a ritualistic form of communion that has brought together communities and cultures for centuries. During a time of political hostility, food insecurity, and isolation it is important now more than ever to facilitate spaces that emphasize interfaith and intergenerational unity and that focus on uplifting marginal voices.
We invite you to join us for two communal dinners supplied by that are set to take place during the harsh winter months and holiday seasons. With these meals, we intend to nurture an inclusive and safe environment for open dialogue and solidarity between those of all backgrounds and life experiences. Conversation and communion will be held in the Random Sample Gallery during their display of “Cut Out the Tongue,” which is a mixed-media exhibit that showcases artists with Southwest Asian and North African backgrounds, with proceeds directly benefitting families in Gaza. The intention is to welcome the local diverse communities of Nashville to celebrate their role in inspiring the exhibits we witness all throughout the city. So please join us as we shift our focus to opening our doors to making art and community accessible, all in the same space.
**This space will simultaneously function as a platform to donate essential items to Random Sample’s donation bin located outside. You can either Venmo @ ivywelsh directly or drop off essential items including: AA/AAA batteries, baby wipes, hand warmers, pop top soup cans, pop top tinned meat, apple sauce, and dog food during the time of the communal meals, regardless of registration.
