Run, don't walk, to the Halloween section and buy this $3 tablecloth to add to your spooky fun. Throw it on the wall with some tape to add an extra level of fine motor practice. Fun Fact: coloring on a vertical surface helps build hand strength, dexterity, bilateral coordination, and grasp skills needed for handwriting. Place the child in tall kneeling (pictured) to even add core strengthening 💪

I feel like I'm going to sound like a product advertiser but hear me out.

Let me start with a disclaimer: I love creating nearly free crafts and educational activities for my clients and own kids with stuff around the clinic/house. But do you know what I love even more? Buying ready to go activities that are "Open and Do."

I'm a working mom. And sometimes $6 is a STEAL for my sanity.

Case in point, my toddler was having a tough time with daddy leaving the house this morning (*Gasp*) without her. I quickly remembered this Amazon package I ordered last week for a "rainy day" and pulled it out. She RAN to her highchair yelling "Wanna work" (that's what she calls fine motor time... Her sister's words, not mine. Work is not a dirty word in my house, but I digress.) Transitioned dad out of the house with no meltdowns. Got 20 minutes of sweet, sweet fine motor practice in.

I've also seen similar kits in the Target Dollar Spot over the last few months. As a pediatric OT and a mom of a toddler and preschooler, just popping on here to let you guys know I am HERE for the sticker mosaic revolution.

This simple craft targeted visual saccades (as my friend repeatedly glanced back and forth between the picture model and his craft), time management, cutting skills, color recognition, prepositional phrases, body awareness, fine motor skills, direction following, sustained attention, and task completion!!

🎃 DIY Dough Pumpkins 🎃 from were a big win for with both my sensory seekers and my tactile explorers. PRO TIP: have a wet wash cloth and spoon handy for kiddos who may be cautious about getting their 👐 hands dirty. 😊

"Pumpkins in the Grass."

Yep, it's that time of year again! Fall is my ABSOLUTE favorite time of year to treat. This oldie but a goodie is brought to you by a bottle drying rack and some pumpkin erasers from the Dollar Tree. It's a fan favorite every single year 🎃 PRO TIP: Look for the magic "C" shape on the tweezers (pictured here) to make sure your kiddo is strengthening intrinsic hand musculature needed for fine motor precision 🖐️
