DAILY MOTIVATION ✨ 001

Happiness
is
a
habit.

Happiness is often seen as a fleeting emotion, but perhaps we can cultivate it like building a habit. Similar to how we create routines for physical health with exercise and nutrition, establishing habits that foster mental well-being can lead to more sustainable contentment (santosha) and happiness within.

Santosha, or contentment, is one of 5 core yogic principles of the niyamas — there is emphasis on acceptance and satisfaction in the present moment, rather than the need to seek an external outcome. It’s not about abandoning goals you may set for yourself, but being accepting of yourself in your current state, on the journey to your goals.

Navigating life requires perseverance, as we encounter challenges and uncertainties. Practices such as gratitude journaling, mindfulness, and engaging in activities that bring joy, create more opportunities to cultivate that inner happiness.

When we begin to shift our focus on positive aspects of our life, nurturing our relationships, supporting our community, we begin to rewire our brains to respond with more positivity and resilience. Over time, these intentional practices can help us shift our mindset, by making happiness an intentional habit, which in turn empowers us to lead more fulfilled and balanced lives, persevering through the complexities and nuances of our journey.

A Thank You Letter to YOGA

Thank you, for all the teachers who have come before us, sharing this ancient practice and wisdom and for reminding us of our relationship to nature, to our Self, and to each other.

Thank you for these practices that help us learn more about who we are, helping us cultivate the capacity and resilience to embrace and work with our shadows so that we can hold deeper wisdom of the light.

Thank you for teaching us that our individual growth isn’t the main goal or end point. It’s through these practices that we are reminded how intertwined we all are on this planet.

Thank you to each of us who work hard day to day, in both big and small ways, to be kind to ourselves and others.

Thank you to all who choose to keep loving and fighting for liberation in the midst of our collective suffering.

And thank you for showing us the beauty of the simplicity and complexity of life itself.

Thank you Yoga, for being there when words failed to soothe, when making it to a class took every fiber of our being, when tears trickled down our faces and onto our rubber mats, when others saw and hugged and held without needing to know the reasons.

Thank you Yoga, for seeing us as we are and helping us to accept and embrace our whole selves and the wholeness in others.

It’s easy to look around and feel like everyone else is ahead - more successful, more certain, more “together.” But your life isn’t a race, and your pace is allowed to be different.

Here are some reminders for the moments you feel left behind:

🖤Progress Isn’t Always Loud
Sometimes growth looks like rest, quiet decisions, or simply surviving a hard season. Just because it’s invisible doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.

🖤You’re Allowed to Redefine What “Success” Means
You don’t need to follow someone else’s checklist. Your values, your joy, and your well-being matter more than milestones.

🖤It’s Not Too Late for Anything That Matters
