Wayne Anderson Greer

Wayne Anderson Greer passed away unexpectedly on February 16, 2026, from complications following a fall, leaving his family and friends deeply saddened. He was 85 years old.

Born on April 12, 1940, in Nashville, Tennessee, Wayne was the son of Anderson and Marie Greer. He grew up in the Nations area of West Nashville and attended Cockrill Elementary School and Cohn High School, forming the roots in community and family that stayed with him throughout his life.

In 1959, Wayne met the love of his life, Maxie Cherry, at a YMCA dance. They married in 1960 and built a life grounded in family, hard work, and community. Together they raised three children - daughters Tina and Tammy, and their son Tony.

During Tony's youth, he was actively involved in his sporting activities and often coached his teams.

Behind his home on Old Harding Road, Wayne built a regulation baseball field and a softball field, affectionately known as "Greer Stadium West." With help from volunteers, he made sure the fields were always ready, providing a place where countless local teams and school groups could practice and play.

In 1961, Wayne boxed for the Nashville Police Department, where he completed rigorous training and competed for the Golden Gloves. He was also an avid golfer with a low handicap, at one time, who enjoyed regular rounds with friends at Temple Hills Country Club and McCabe Golf Course, as well as golf trips that created many lasting memories.

He was a longtime member of the West Nashville Moose Lodge #2221 and was known for giving back to his community whenever he could.

Wayne began working at a young age and carried that strong work ethic throughout his life. He was dedicated to providing for his family and often worked more than one job to make sure they had the opportunities they needed. He retired from Ford Glass Company in 1995, though he remained active over the years helping with several small businesses in West Nashville, including The Trolley on 49th Street and G and H Used Cars on Charlotte Pike, and managing various properties. More than anything, Wayne took pride in the family he and Maxie built together and in seeing their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow and succeed.

Nothing brought Wayne more joy than his role as a father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He rarely missed a sporting event or milestone involving his children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren, always showing his steady support and encouragement.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson and Marie Greer; sisters Patsy Greer and Sherry Downing; nieces Gina Walker and Terry Biggs Knight; and nephews Chuck Greer, Robbie Greer, Barry Greer, Andy Downing, and Rod Biggs.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Maxie Greer; daughters Tina (Jeff) Miller and Tammy (Melvin) Stewart; son Tony (Michelle) Greer; brother Ray (Carol) Greer; grandchildren Jaclyn (Jake) Clute, Natalie (Kyle) Mast, Jim Miller, Max Miller, and Carter Greer; great-grandchildren Wayne Mast, Leanna Mast, and Jackson Clute; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Wayne was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the family he created, the community he supported, and the many lives he touched.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 4 o'clock in the afternoon until 8 o'clock in the evening and Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 9 o'clock in the morning until 11 o'clock in the morning at West Harpeth Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 11 o'clock in the morning until 12 o'clock in the afternoon at West Harpeth Funeral Home.

Entombment will follow Thursday, February 19, 2026, at half past 12 o'clock in the afternoon at the mausoleum at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.

Patsy Vaden Claytor

Mrs. Patsy Vaden Claytor - Age 84 of Nashville,TN passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026 after a brief illness. Patsy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rex Dean Claytor and her sister, Jeannette Romani. She is survived by her children, Steven Claytor, Bryan Claytor (Carol Fletcher), Rex Keith Claytor, and Jennifer Claytor, and by her sister Delores Teeple.

Patsy graduated from Cohn High School in 1959 and worked as a bookkeeper. Perhaps her favorite job was at the daycare. Many of the kids she kept 20 years ago still stayed in touch with "Ms Patsy". Patsy was the youngest of three girls and they spent happy hours together -- traveling to garage sales, going to the casino, and celebrating all the holidays. She loved going to the Great Smoky Mountains with her family. Patsy loved her kids AND her dogs, Ted, Abby, and Rodney. On Thanksgiving night, she turned on the Christmas music radio channel and it played non-stop until after Christmas. She loved setting up her Christmas village and decorating for the holidays. Patsy loved to bake...fudge pies, coconut cakes, chess pies and she was meticulous about decorating her baked goods. Patsy never failed to visit, or send flowers, food, or a card when someone was sick or having a hard time. She was a second mom to all of her kids' friends. In the last few years, she kept busy selling collectibles on Facebook Marketplace and playing Bubblewitch. Patsy enjoyed sitting in her deck garden with the fountain and twinkle lights, watching the birds and squirrels, and feeding the deer who came to her door at dusk.

The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at West Harpeth funeral home, Nashville, TN., from 5 o'clock until 7 o'clock in the evening, with a memorial service to follow until 8 o'clock in the evening. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Store Food Bank or to the charity of your choice.

Mary Lou Millican

Mary Lou Millican (Wilson), born June 18, 1939, in Jackson, Michigan, passed away gently, surrounded by the love of her family, on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Mary Lou’s early childhood carried her far from Michigan to Uitenhage, South Africa (now officially renamed Kariega), where her father, Harold Wilson, worked as an engineer for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. From the ages of seven to twelve, she was fully immersed in life there. She attended Riebeck School and fondly recalled goats, chickens, and donkeys roaming the streets. She remained pen pals with a classmate for more than twenty years — an early reflection of what would become one of her defining qualities: steadfast and enduring friendship.

Upon returning to the United States, her family settled in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Mary Lou attended school there from sixth grade through her graduation from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1957. She embraced her high school years wholeheartedly — poodle skirts, bobby socks, football games, and sock hops. She served as class secretary, was active in Student Council, sat on the prom court, and participated in several social clubs. It surprised no one when she was voted “Most Friendly.”

Following in her mother Grace’s footsteps, she attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, majoring in secretarial science. A proud and loyal member of Delta Gamma sorority, Mary Lou served as chapter president and sat on the University’s Panhellenic Board. Her devotion to Delta Gamma continued throughout her life as an engaged and supportive alumna.

In 1961, Mary Lou met Theodore “Ted” Millican on a blind date. They were engaged on Christmas Eve and married on May 5, 1962 — beginning a marriage defined by devotion and partnership. They raised their family in Westerville, Ohio, filling their years with adventure and togetherness. Family vacations in their motorhome were complete with eight-track tapes, card games, and campfires across the United States. A favorite destination was the Outer Banks of North Carolina, which became home in the 1990s. In their empty-nest years, Mary Lou and Ted embraced new adventures, including scuba diving. Bonaire became their favorite place to explore the beauty of the underwater world.

Mary Lou worked in the public school system in administrative roles, where she was especially devoted to supporting students with additional needs. She brought both competence and compassion to her work, quietly serving others behind the scenes.

When their first grandchild was born, they relocated to Nashville, Tennessee. As “Mimi,” Mary Lou was a constant and joyful presence in both the big and small moments of her grandchildren’s lives — school programs, holidays, birthday celebrations, and ordinary afternoons. Nothing brought her greater happiness than being with her family.

Proper, gracious, and deeply relational, Mary Lou maintained friendships that spanned decades. No one was ever happier to see you than Mary Lou — her face would light up, and in that moment, you knew you mattered. Though she knitted, served on a garden committee, participated in bridge club, and remained active in her senior community, it was never the activity itself that mattered most. It was always the people. The friends made at Leah Rose were a second family who brought her great joy for the past six years.

She is survived by her husband, Theodore Millican; her son, Jeffrey Theodore Millican (Amy); her daughter, Carolyn Millican Berry (Chuck); her beloved grandchildren, Wilson Berry, Charlie Berry, James Berry, and Emma Berry; and her brother, Thomas Wilson (Kathy).

She will be remembered for her warmth, her steadfast friendships, her propriety and grace, and the joy she expressed so freely when surrounded by those she loved. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Services have been entrusted to West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville.

Benjamin Yager Bowman

Benjamin “Ben” Yager Bowman, 36, of Nashville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2026. Born in Inverness, Florida, Ben moved to Tennessee in his early 30’s where he became a cornerstone of an ever-growing community.

Ben was a man defined by his love for Jesus, for his wife and daughter, and for people. He was a loving husband, incredible father, and devoted friend. He was strong and disciplined, always pushing himself, finding new challenges to conquer, and calling others higher. Yet at the same time, he was gentle, patient, and tender, especially with his girls, his greatest joy.

Ben lived his faith out loud and in action. He founded and led a growing Christian men’s group, mentoring and strengthening men in their walk with Christ in everyday life. He constantly challenged those around him to grow in mind, body, and spirit, often reminding them by example to be one percent better than yesterday. Anyone who met him left his presence encouraged.

He dedicated his life to serving others. As founder and CEO of For The Veteran, Ben worked tirelessly to support and uplift veterans. He also partnered with Destiny Rescue in the fight against child human trafficking, a mission that deeply burdened his heart. Through conversations, mentorship, and friendship, Ben led countless people to Christ. Heaven is fuller because he lived. But despite all he accomplished, recognition never mattered to him. Loving people well did.

He is survived by his beloved wife Madison Paige Bowman; his daughter Margot June Bowman; his mother, Elsie Bowman (Tre); his brother, Bobby Bowman (Cel Bowman); his sister Mandy Hall (Jason); and four nephews, Tyler, Grayson, Daniel, and Josiah. He was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Bowman.

Ben’s life was not measured in years but in impact. His legacy continues in every person he encouraged and every life he pointed toward Christ.

He will be deeply missed by countless people, but we find comfort in knowing exactly where he is. We trust he is helping prepare a place for us and strategizing alongside Jesus on how to get more people home.

If Ben were here he’d be telling us that God is not surprised by this, and that now it’s our turn to live out what He’s taught us. And, of course... “Go Gators”

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Ben to Destiny Rescue.

❄️ After the Storm ❄️

This winter storm certainly left its mark. While we did lose part of a tree, we’re grateful there was no major damage and that all the staff remained safe.

In the midst of it all, there’s been a beautiful calm in the aftermath — the ice-covered trees and sunlight shining through them today are a reminder that even after rough weather, there can be something peaceful and inspiring to take in.

We’re also thankful to be part of a community that supports one another. We’re currently welcoming our sister location’s staff (Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center) into our building while they wait for power to be restored.

Thank you to everyone who checked in. Stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy a little of the beauty around us today. 💙❄️
