Every day, volunteers serve our patients, visitors and care teams across HCA Healthcare hospitals in countless ways — from delivering mail and transporting patients to greeting visitors, supporting gift shops and organizing education materials.

At HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital, volunteer Don Andriuzzo has spent more than 30 years delivering not just mail, but also smiles and encouragement. At 95 years young, he’s a powerful reminder that purpose, compassion and service can leave a lasting mark.

“My joy each day is to come here to the hospital — not only for my work, but for the staff and my fellow volunteers,” Don shared. “It really turns into my therapy each day at my age.”

As we close out National Volunteer Month, we’re grateful for Don and for all of the volunteers across HCA Healthcare who give their time and talents to help us care like family.

At HCA Florida Englewood Hospital, registered nurses Molly Bakulski (mother) and Lily Bakulski (daughter) care for patients side by side on the medical-surgical unit — their shared calling shaped by deeply personal experiences.

For Molly, who has been a nurse for 20 years, that passion began while witnessing the care her own mother received during hospitalization. Today, her compassion continues to leave a lasting impact — earning her the hospital’s 2025 Excellence in Nursing Award for Compassionate Care and the internationally recognized DAISY Award.

For Lily, the journey came full circle after the care she received as a child while battling asthma and pneumonia inspired her to join the HCA Healthcare family in 2024.

“Having her graduate and want to come to HCA Florida Englewood Hospital has been a dream come true,” Molly shared.

“I grew up with an amazing nurse. My mom’s patients love her,” Lily said. “It was so cool to be able to follow her around when I was little and I knew I wanted to be the person that gets to take care of patients.”

More than 100,000 nurses across HCA Healthcare make a difference in the lives of patients every day — and we’re committed to supporting them through every stage of their journey as they grow, lead and care for others.

Savannah Officer, an HCA Healthcare nurse at St. David's South Austin Medical Center, reflects that commitment through her career journey. After beginning her career in 2015 as a licensed vocational nurse in long-term care, she expanded her impact — earning her RN license, completing an RN-to-BSN program and progressing from a preceptor to a clinical nurse coordinator to now leading a trauma medical-surgical unit.

“My progression into my current role at HCA Healthcare has been an easy transition every step of the way, largely because I have always been clear about what I wanted and where I hoped to go,” said the St. David's HealthCare nurse.

Through Galen College of Nursing, Savannah was able to continue working while advancing her education — gaining the skills, confidence and support to grow into leadership while continuing to deliver high-quality, compassionate care.
