🎄⚾️ A season of giving that continues to be a grand slam for our communities. We’re headed to HCA Florida Healthcare for our next spotlight! HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is celebrating 25 years of its Holiday Tree Benefit, a long-standing tradition that delivers comfort, connection and holiday cheer when it’s needed most.

For 25 years, hospital colleagues and community members have donated hand-decorated trees to the Ronald McDonald House of North Central Florida, the Gainesville Fisher House for Veterans and adult patients receiving cancer care at the hospital. One story from this milestone season is a true home run.

Last year, 8-year-old Archer Williams, whose family was staying at the Ronald McDonald House while he received cancer treatment, received a baseball-themed tree decorated by 10-year-old Cooper Mincey, the son of one of our nurse managers. Archer loved it so much that he sent Cooper a heartfelt thank-you note – and the two discovered they share a love for baseball.

This year, the boys finally met at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital and teamed up to decorate a tree together for the 2025 Holiday Tree Benefit, passing the joy forward to another family in need of some holiday magic.

During , we honor hope, healing and incredible physicians, nurses and colleagues who make stories like Brenda Minor’s possible – helping families spend the holidays together.

When the 37-year-old experienced recurring abdominal pain, she trusted her instincts and sought answers. That decision led her to the High-Risk Pancreas Center at Sarah Cannon Cancer Network at HCA Virginia Health System, where advanced screening revealed a high-grade precancerous lesion on her pancreas – detected before it could develop into pancreatic cancer. The tumor was successfully removed at Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of Chippenham & Johnston-Willis Hospitals. Catching pancreatic cancer early is rare, yet for those fortunate enough to receive an early diagnosis, the odds of survival dramatically improve.

Brenda’s story highlights the life-saving impact of proactive diagnostics and specialized programs designed to help identify risks before they become cancer. That same expertise supports the more than 120,000 patients diagnosed with cancer each year across the HCA Healthcare Sarah Cannon Cancer Network, where teams work together to deliver comprehensive care, research and support.
