Not all big reactions are the same.

Sometimes a child is experiencing a sensory meltdown ➡️ their nervous system is overloaded or overstimulated (too loud, too bright, too much).

Other times it’s a behavioral response ➡️ their way of communicating a need or want, avoiding a less preferred task, or testing limits.

You finally have a moment to rest—but your body won’t take the hint.

Your mind races. Your jaw tenses. Maybe your heart pounds, or you suddenly feel the urge to scroll, clean, snack, or do anything but be still.

If you’ve ever felt uncomfortable with rest—or even afraid of it—you’re not alone. Especially if you’ve learned to associate that being productive = being safe, or that rest = being lazy or vulnerable.
