My website, www.thepelvicprofessor.com is an educational resource for women of all ages seeking information about pelvic health and pelvic floor disorders. As both a woman and urologist, I recognize the lack of knowledge that most women have regarding their pelvic floor and how to protect it. My career has been dedicated to education and clinical practice in the field of female pelvic medicine and surgery, and I invite all women interested in learning more to join me online.

The fact that urinary incontinence can occur in young physically fit women who don't have any of the usual risk factors for incontinence is the subject of my latest post. Hope my physical therapy friends will weigh in on pelvic floor PT in this group.

Just posted a brief piece about Nocturia on my blog. It is a more complex topic than my explanation acknowledges, but I wanted to distill it to what I think is most important for my readers to know.

I spent Saturday AM at Fleet Feet in Brentwood where I spoke about stress incontinence (SUI) to women who had just run 4 miles in this beastly heat! I was humbled by their determination, and I confirmed something that I have long suspected true.... Some women are told that stress leakage is normal by their doctors. Although SUI is common, it is not normal. Read more on my website or in the AUA Foundation website.

I had a fun time visiting a group of terrific ladies at Del Webb-Mt. Juliet, TN yesterday for "What We Won't Tell the Boys: Our S*x Lives and Our Bladders." What a lively bunch with tons of great questions. The message of pelvic floor health for all ages was well received. I appreciate their enthusiasm and hope I get a chance to return to share more information.

I recently had the honor of participating as part of an independent panel of women’s pelvic health experts assembled by the AUA Foundation to create educational resources for women about stress urinary incontinence. The final products are now available for free from the AUA Foundations website, www.urologyhealth.org.

Not seeing the cool interactive that's supposed to be here, then click on over to Adobe's website to download the latest version of Adobe Flash to view the interactive.
