Where are the twists and turns of life taking you? The tree planted by the stream of Living Water has the strength to withstand.

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” John 4:10

The holidays are fast approaching. Halloween is here and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Are you already dreaming of a white Christmas just like the ones you used to know? Maybe they weren't all white, but none-the-less Christmas is not like it used to be.....times change, people leave us, circumstances overwhelm us. It can help to talk about it.

1. Regulate the memories but allow yourself time to indulge them. Set a timer, designate an afternoon, use the length of a favorite Christmas song. Let yourself remember and cry or laugh or just soak it in.

2. Reinvent the activity. Change the menu. Provide a meal for someone else. If decorating the tree awakens too many memories, ask someone to help you; enlist the grandkids or a neighbor child; invite friends for dinner and decorating. Don't do it alone. Make the holiday your own.

3.Record, in some way, the stories associated with the decorations that grace each holiday. Take a photo or make a video, especially of ornaments that break or need to be replaced.The memories will be there to share.
