Restore Small Groups

Restore Small Groups Helping people transform their lives through safe, quality, and affordable peer-to-peer small groups. Everyone is struggling with something. You are not alone!

In small group, we extend love, empathy, and respect to each other in our shared humanity. Our groups consist of 5 to10 participants and 2 trained facilitators, all who commit to an 8-week journey together. In group we get to the heart of our struggles, building intentional, healing relationships on the way. With thousands of participants worldwide, we have seen transformation in the areas of anxi

ety, depression, relationship issues, low self-worth, grief and loss, rage, loneliness, or anything else holding you back from a full life. Restore Small Groups was founded by Scott Reall at the YMCA of Middle Tennessee and now operates as it's own non-profit. Scott and Executive Director Sara Hamill work to intentionally provide Journey to Freedom, our flagship book, and other small groups as a means to offer a path to lasting transformation for anyone dealing with life's struggles.

Grateful to be a part of the Faith & Community Summit yesterday alongside leaders from faith, philanthropy, nonprofit, and government—four spaces that don’t always sit at the same table, but deeply need each other.

Restore was honored to be present, representing the faith-based nonprofit context.

Excited about the vision of these four contexts collaborating to, as Clarence Thompson said, “help create the enabling conditions for every Tennessean to thrive.”

Emotions aren’t something to get past, they’re part of how God designed us to live fully. They are one of the primary ways we experience connection, truth, and even God Himself.

We begin every Restore group the same way: with a feelings check-in.
It’s a way of coming home to ourselves and to each other.

This practice helps individuals slow down, get honest about what’s really going on beneath the surface.

Powerlessness is an often misunderstood, yet essential part of our approach to transformation.
At first, it sounds like helplessness or resignation. But that’s not what we mean.

Rooted in Jesus’ words, “Blessed are the poor in spirit,” powerlessness is when we stop pretending we’re in control.

The reality is, all of us are hooked on something, our need to be right, our roles, our avoidance, our ways of managing pain. It’s for all of us.
It moves us from self-reliance to dependence on God.

If you're a therapist, pastor, leader, where do YOU go to be supported?
This experience has a two-fold purpose, for people who want:
* Personal healing and growth
* And the opportunity to explore the Restore group process for possible use in their own context.

Starting May 22, from 6:30 - 8:00 on Zoom.

The body of Christ was never meant to heal in isolation. It heals as a body.

When one part is seen, the whole body becomes more whole.
When one person tells the truth, it creates space for others to do the same.
When shame is met with compassion, healing begins to move through the system.

This is how the body of Christ heals itself.
Through presence, honesty, and shared humanity.

Healing happens when you’re seen, heard, and not judged—where you no longer need to hide or wear a mask.

Addiction often forms in isolation, and healing happens in connection—we were never meant to do this alone. And in that place of honesty and connection, Christ meets us there loving us just as we are.

Tricia walked through the doors carrying the unthinkable.
A diagnosis that changed everything.

She found more than a program.
She found community.
She found strength.
She found space to tell the truth.
And slowly… she found her way back to herself.

Today, Tricia embodies courage, resilience, and healing in motion.

Healing doesn’t happen in isolation.
It happens in safe, intentional community.

There’s a story about Michelangelo being asked why he worked so diligently on a block of stone. He replied, “I saw an angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”

Transformation often works like that. Not because we create something new in ourselves, but because God reveals what has been there all along—His image in us, slowly being restored.

What kind of life is God inviting you into, waiting to be set free in you?

Like an iceberg, the deeper issues we avoid are often the very things that end up doing the most damage.
But real change begins when we face things head-on. When we name what’s underneath. When we stop avoiding and start engaging.

And it’s work we believe Christ meets us in—with grace, not shame.

Across the world, healing is happening in simple rooms, through honest stories and courageous people.

Our facilitator Stephen in Uganda recently launched a Journey to Freedom group with university students—creating a space where young adults can be seen, known, and transformed by God's grace.
