I found this video on FB and had to share! This person got a tattoo coverup for their fibrosis.
Even if you’re years post-op, we can still do massage to try to smooth it out.
Let’s talk about fibrosis:
After lipo, your body goes into healing mode and starts building scar tissue under the skin. Sometimes it just a little overachiever and creates extra, this is what we call fibrosis. It is typically caused by the quality of your skin before surgery, surgeon’s technique, or post-op —doing too much too soon (too rough of massage, for example).
It can feel like:
• firmness
• little lumps or knots
• tight or uneven areas
Totally normal, and honestly, super common
Think of it like your body laying down “patchwork” as it heals, sometimes it just needs a little help smoothing things out.
With time, consistency, and the right post-op care, it does get better.
Remember to follow your surgeon’s post-op instructions (wear your compression garments, hydrate, rest, breath-work, circulation walks), and practice self-massage between sessions!
