How art empowers Galo to tell his story 🎨

After losing his mother, Galo found more than support at Friends Life Community — he found a place to thrive creatively.

“Galo loves to layer upon layer upon layer in all the mediums he works with. There are many layers to Galo — and to the art he creates,” shares Jennifer Haston, Visual Arts Program Coordinator.

As National Family Caregivers Month comes to a close, we’re proud to highlight an insightful op-ed by our CEO & President, Waverly Ann, published in The Tennessean.

“When we think about caregiving, we often picture parents raising children or adult children looking after aging parents. It wasn’t until I began working at Friends Life Community that I came to understand another, often unseen, dimension of caregiving — the families supporting adults with disabilities.
These family members, often parents and siblings, have taught me so much about what it truly means to live life with others. They have profoundly shaped how we foster community at Friends Life Community.”
