This past weekend, I had the honor of listening to Black mothers share their birth stories—moments of courage, vulnerability, and truth. When I was asked, “What was the hardest story shared?” it reminded me how much these conversations matter.
Listen in to hear my response.

I had the incredible opportunity this weekend to sit on a panel for Mama Stories, written and directed by the talented Cynthia Harris.

Tennessee has some of the highest maternal and infant mortality rates in the country. Mama Stories, a new choreopoem, amplifies the voices of women who survived life-threatening pregnancy complications—known as “near misses.” Their stories are courageous, vulnerable, and deeply necessary.

As a mother who survived my own “near miss”—spending several days in the ICU immediately after my son’s birth and attending countless doctor visits for weeks afterward—this experience was profoundly meaningful. It allowed me to use my journey to help educate, empower, and support others in an innovative and impactful way.

Honored. Grateful. Healing.

“Boundaries Are a Form of Self-Love”
Caption:

Boundaries aren’t walls, they’re bridges to better relationships.

💬 “I need space”
💬 “I’m not available right now”
💬 “That doesn’t work for me”

Saying these things isn’t selfish, it’s necessary.

Boundaries protect your time, energy, and peace.

Your worth is not tied to your productivity.

Take a moment and ask yourself:

💭 Who am I when I’m not taking care of everyone else?
💭 What do I enjoy when no one’s watching?
💭 What feels like me?

Rediscovering your identity is a healing journey — and therapy can help guide the way.

“What Does Belonging Feel Like to You?”

Let’s talk about belonging 💬

True belonging isn’t about fitting in — it’s about feeling safe, seen, and supported as your authentic self.

“You Don’t Have to Earn Rest”

Rest is not a reward.
Rest is a right.

You are allowed to slow down, reset, and recharge — without guilt.

Especially as a woman of color, burnout is often romanticized.

Let’s normalize rest as resistance and healing. 🌿
