Winston Henry Harmon Jr.

Winston Henry Harmon, Jr., a man who loved his God, family, and country above all else, was called into the arms of his loving Savior on February 4, 2026.

His well-lived life was a testament to his abiding faith in God, unconditional love of family, and strong belief in the power of faith, the value of unborn life, loyalty to his marriage vows, unconditional love of family, and appreciation of the traits of respect and humor.

Born on January 7, 1950, his early days as the son of a Southern Baptist preacher in Griffin, Georgia were filled with church activities, team sports, and his all-consuming love of the great outdoors.

Following graduation from Griffin – Spalding County High, where he lettered in football, basketball and track, he attended the University of Tennessee/Knoxville. It was on that “Hallowed Hill” he met the love of his life on his 19th birthday.

Marriage to Patricia Elizabeth Frazier Harmon in 1971 ushered in a new season that completed him, and God blessed him with his other true loves – his four beautiful daughters. In these faithful daughters he instilled a solid love for God, sports, the outdoors and “Good Ole Rocky Top.”

Their busy household was filled with children and their many friends. Henry relished their school and extracurricular activities and rarely missed an event in which they participated. These included school plays, girls’ softball games (where he often served as the umpire), swim meets, camping and fishing and hiking trips to many of Tennessee’s beautiful state parks. His girls were never afraid to bait a hook, build a campfire, or find a good bush off the beaten trail to hide behind when “nature called.” He made sure of it. He was exceptional in his fatherhood, but also did not raise any “entitled” children but rather ones who displayed his own natural work ethic.

Once he walked his daughters down the aisle and gave their hand in marriage to their chosen spouse, Henry thoroughly enjoyed bonding with his beloved and respected son-in-laws over all things related to sports (especially SEC sports), hunting, trucks, guns, faith and family.)

Following his career as a supervisor in the food service and trucking industries, he stepped away from the “corporate grind” to begin his own landscape business in 1984, where he mixed his affinity for hard physical work with communing with nature.

A “man’s man” living in an otherwise all-female household, “Big Henry” (also referred to as Hungry Jack or Big Boy) never met a stranger nor ever at a “loss for words.” He was a genuine Southern gentleman and “good ole boy,” opinionated on many issues, never shying away from sharing his thoughts, but always in a respectful way.

The consummate handyman, he relished the next “project” (whether it was building a manger for a school Christmas play, creating & installing a fake tree for a kindergarten classroom, repairing a window shattered by an errant baseball, building a dog house for his current furry friend, or answering a neighbor’s call for help). His capable hands, coupled with his toolbox, pick-up truck and landscape trailer, often came in handy when rescuing a family member or friend needing help to move or just haul big things around. Friends & family knew who to contact when they needed a strong back, skilled hands and a willingness to “get up and go” to “answer the call.”

Henry was preceded into heaven and welcomed by his devoted parents, Reverend and Mrs. Winston H. Harmon, Sr. of Griffin GA.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Henry’s entrance into Eternal Life leaves immediate family to grieve until they are reunited in Glory: 4 devoted daughters: Kathryn Theresa Vogel (Chris), Jennifer Marie Campbell (Doug), Celena Rose Mullen (Micheal), Brigid Louise Meguiar (Matt)

Honorary son: J Paul “Boy” Robinson (Samantha)

2 loving sisters: Cheryl Harmon Weldon (Bill), Regina Harmon Jones (Russ)

13 precious grandchildren: Austin Vogel (Lauren), Allison Vogel, Luke Henry Vogel, Maggie Nolte Belcher (Jesse), Devon Harmon (Flo), Gavin Campbell, Peyton Campbell, Morgan Campbell, Wilson Mullen, Bella Mullen, Audrey Meguiar, Brady Meguiar, Ellie Meguiar

Henry was also a proud Great Granddaddy of 8 (with another expected in June!)

Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church, where he was married in 1971 and received into the Catholic faith in 1981. Date and time to be announced.

Private internment with family to immediately follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, Highway 100, Nashville TN

In lieu of flowers, Henry would appreciate family & friends cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers, reading a James Patterson or John Grisham book, spending time with God in nature (esp. up in a deer stand before dawn), or donating to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

The Obituary of Thomas Lee Brown

Thomas Lee Brown, 84, a devoted husband, father, “Pappy,” and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026, following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was reunited in Heaven with his son Jeremy.

Tom was born on August 25, 1941, in Wichita, Kansas, the fourth child of Emmitt and Frieda Brown, and was affectionately known as the “family mistake.” He was a proud North High Redskin who excelled at tennis and later graduated from Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas with a degree in education. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Education from Wichita State University.

After beginning his teaching career in Wichita, Tom moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he taught math and science at Harding Academy and eventually rose to the position of math department chairman. Following a brief period working as a civil engineer, he returned to education, spending the next 35 years teaching physics, chemistry, computer science and math at Memphis University School. Though well versed in many subjects, Tom’s greatest focus was always his students. He believed in building meaningful relationships, many of which lasted long after graduation. Tom was very proud of his “former students” and made efforts to stay connected to many of them through the years.

Tom loved his family. While living in Memphis, he met Jeannine Mynatt, whom he married in 1974. In 1981 they welcomed a son, Jeremy Thomas, and in 1984 they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl named Emily Elizabeth. Tom and Jeannine’s family continued to grow when Emily married Matthew Mangano. Tom was especially thrilled to become a grandfather, aka ”Pappy,” to his three grandchildren - Elliott James, Maia Rose, and Mason Thomas Mangano. Tom was heartbroken by the loss of Jeremy in 2023, but remained deeply proud of his family and grandchildren.

Outside the classroom, Tom was happiest working with his hands. He loved woodworking, tackling projects, and helping others. He crafted high quality furniture, made countless beautiful cutting boards which he happily gave away, and was known for his ability to fix just about anything. If he didn’t know how to fix it at first, he would spend many hours thinking about the problem and would eventually figure it out. Much of this happened while he happily “piddled around” in his workshop. He was very handy with tools, amassing quite a collection. He even repaired and restored vintage appliances and classic cars, with the highlight being a Seafoam Green 1966 Chevrolet C10 pickup.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jeannine Brown; daughter Emily Mangano (Matthew); grandchildren Elliott, Maia, and Mason Mangano; brother Orville Brown (Lydia), brother-in-law Lynn Mynatt (Cheryl), and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Frieda Brown, sisters Marge Sheck and Betty Crumrine, and his son Jeremy Thomas Brown.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pearl at Fairview, where Tom spent the final four months of his life. He was treated like family - with patience, respect, dignity, and kindness. Their care was a comfort not only to Tom, but also to his wife Jeannine.

A visitation will be held on February 13, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brentwood Hills Church of Christ, 5120 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37220 where Tom was a longtime member. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 12:00 PM. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s website (https://brentwoodhills.org) and available for viewing for a limited time afterward.

Parkinson’s disease profoundly shaped the final years of Tom’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or the Peterson Foundation for Parkinson’s.

Sherry Belinda Mazeall

Sherry Wilson Mazeall (February 20, 1949-January 25, 2026) was called home from Old Hickory, Tennessee, after battling a lengthy illness. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, she spent her formative years in North Carolina, where she discovered the great loves of her life: Duke basketball, her career as a medical lab technologist, and, most importantly, her soulmate Walter Jack Mazeall, Jr., who was stationed there as a US Marine. Over their fifty-eight years together, they built a beautiful life for their four children, making homes in North Carolina, Ohio, Florida, and Tennessee. It's in Tennessee where she dedicated over two decades of her life in service to Williamson County and St. Thomas Hospitals. Her greatest joy, however, was found in the time she spent with her family, including, of course, her fur babies.

Preceded in death by her parents Carlton Bryce and Ruth Palmer Wilson; she leaves behind her beloved husband, Walter Jack Mazeall, Jr.; devoted children, daughter Angie (Gib) Prosise and sons Derek (Laura) Mazeall, Steve (Lyndsey) Mazeall, and Jeff (Angie) Mazeall; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jennifer Woessner and Robin (Duane) Glowski; and seven nieces and nephews. A private Celebration of Life will be held by family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family encourages those who feel so moved to donate to Happy Tails Humane Shelters or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.

Clarence Leon Partain

C. Leon Partain, MD, PhD

Clarence Leon Partain, age 85, of Brentwood, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, January 28th with his beloved wife, Judy, by his side.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 12, 1940 to Vergie Young and Archie Leon Partain, Leon grew up in West Tennessee where his father served as a pastor and church planter. At the age of nine, Leon embraced Jesus as Lord and Savior, and was baptized by his dad.

Upon his graduation from Clarksville High School, Leon attended the University of Tennessee where he received a Bachelor Degree in Nuclear Engineering followed by a Master and Doctor of Philosophy Degree in the same field at Purdue University. At age 32, while teaching at the University of Missouri, he sensed God’s calling which he would describe as a divine nudge to change career paths. With courage and faith, he moved his young family to St. Louis where he entered medical school at Washington University.

Leon was a faithful follower of Christ and was anchored to Jesus as the source of hope and the basis for authority in his life. He was deeply committed to his family and friends and set his priorities, in his own words, “within a properly ordered sequence of faith, family and profession.”

His love of the church was exemplified through his service as a deacon, teacher, choir director, choir member and trustee. His passion for the body of Christ extended beyond the local church, taking him to South America, Ukraine, South Korea, and Kenya where he shared the Gospel in word and in action.

Leon’s greatest love, apart from Jesus Christ, was his family. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Leon spent his life serving those he loved. He was sure to make every effort to be present at each important life event and to have his camera in hand so that every memory was captured. Our most treasured family memories include vacations at the beach, fishing in the pond with Pop, gator rides around the farm, and family dinners around the dining room table.

Leon devoted his professional life to medicine, research, and teaching. His work advanced the clinical application of Magnetic Resonance Imaging while mentoring generations of physicians and scientists. During his thirty five year tenure in academic radiology at Vanderbilt University, he served as Chair of Radiology and Director of the Center for Imaging Research. A prolific author and editor, he guided the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging for many years and gave generously of his time through national service in multiple scientific organizations. Yet the true foundation of Dr. Partain’s life was his unapologetic but deeply humble faith in Jesus Christ. That faith shaped his character, guided his decisions, and infused his work with compassion and purpose. Though widely respected for his leadership and scholarship, he was best known to family, friends, colleagues, and trainees for his unwavering integrity, gentle spirit, and steady encouragement. Leon leaves behind a legacy not only of scientific achievement, but of faithful living and loving mentorship. He profoundly touched the lives of others with kindness and compassion.

Leon is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judy; children David (Rebecca), Teri (Bland), and Amy; brother Larry (Deb); Brother in law Tom (Cathy); grandchildren Sarah (Brandon), Amy, Luke, Tucker, Alex, Ryan and Jake; his cousins and a host of nieces and nephews that he adored.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Brentwood Baptist Church, 7777 Concord Road, Brentwood, TN 37027 on Saturday, February 7th at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope House International or Brentwood Baptist Church Mission Fund.

A native Nashvillian and the middle child of thirteen, Frances took full advantage of the opportunity to be independent and resourceful early in life. After marrying her late husband of 58 years, John Earle Pilkington, Sr., Frances began as a Book Keeper then became a Realtor, quickly building a network of friends. Soon finding herself with four children of her own, she always exhibited exceptional southern hospitality, often welcoming both her children’s friends and her own friends and family into her home for a warm meal. Through this hospitality, Frances’ incredible talents in the kitchen quickly became noticed and deeply appreciated by her many friends and family; she was asked by her mother-in-law, Gwen Pilkington, to launch the tearoom at Nashville’s Outlook Inn. She then started Party Time Catering and was later asked by Cheekwood to open and run the new Pineapple Room in 1977. She found herself catering events she had never imagined, with guests including political dignitaries and clients including the largest corporations in the Nashville area. Showing her mind for business and aiming to meet the demand for her amazing southern cooking, Frances launched the novel concept of providing her great food in a carry-out storefront, aptly naming it “Something Special,” ensuring that like her home, it served as a place of community, laughing, and joy. When she wasn’t cooking one of her famous dishes, Frances loved spending time with her grandchildren, acting as an incredible role model and mentor. Her free time was also consumed by her love of playing bridge and participating in many activities with her loving friends at The St. Paul Senior Living Community. Frances lived her life with unwavering integrity in her beliefs. She will be forever missed by all who were so fortunate to have known her, and her spirit will always be remembered and dearly appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date.
