Quarter Final Voting ends 12/4 at 9pm! I'm competing with the Top 1% of contestants (out of 4,000+). I'm #7 in my group. Free votes are awesome... and donations will give me a fighting chance to make it to the Semi Finals! đžâď¸ Link in bio!
I want to win Fabover40 because...
1. My mom was denied the title of Valedictorian because the student with the 2nd highest GPA was a boy... screw that!
2. My mom wanted my doors to be open, not closed. She wanted me to be strong, independent, true to my values and not sacrifice my soul just to make others happy. She wanted me to make my mark on the world and control my own destiny... to be President if I wanted!
3. My mom's heart stopped during my dream vacation in Italy and never had the chance to hear about my wild trip. I left part of my soul in Italy and I really want to get it back.
4. I know how scary it feels to get a call from the doctor after a mammogram recommending further testing to determine if you have breast cancer. I'm also thankful for the advanced breast ultrasound imaging that allowed my doctor to rule out breast cancer. I'm one of the lucky ones!
Each donation helps fund breast cancer research!
5. I â¤ď¸ Centennial Park! As a kid, my brother and I spent lots of time playing at the park. Walking around the lake brings me peace and I'd like to make a donation in his memory.
6. Jan.4 is my birthday! I'd love to spend it in Scottsdale, AZ on a spa-cation!
7. I plan to set up a scholarship for a young poet in honor of my mom. She bought me my first journal and always believed in my poetry.
8. Last but not least, I'd like to buy a house in Nashville. Winning this competition will provide finds for a down payment.
9. I want to win for my 8 year old self, the little girl who believed all things were possible, as long as you were dedicated and committed to making your dreams come true!

Last Thursday, in true Katniss Everdeen style, I fought hard to hang onto my #1 Group Spot against the "other Sara" in my group. Sadly, I fell to #2.
After a restless night's sleep, I got back up, rallied the troops, shared why winning FabOver40 matters to me, and asked voters to keep voting during the Wild Card Round!!!
Votes kept pouring in.... and I secured my #1 spot, making it possible to advance to the Quarterfinals!đĽł
Groups have been switched up, with votes starting over
To win, I need to keep my #1 group spot for the Quarterfinals (DEC. 4 Deadline), Semifinals (Dec. 5-Dec. 11), and the Finals (Dec. 12-18).
85% of the votes I received have been FREE votes with several people voting every 24 hours!

Sara Minges- International Speaker and Poet|3x Author|Coach
Sara Minges is a 2019-2020 Best Poet of KC Nominee, International Speaker and Touring Poet, Coach and Founder of Wonder Woman Rising. Sheâs also a former play therapist and expert panelist for Lady Gagaâs Foundation. Sheâs performed in front of audiences in Canada, France, the United Kingdom, New York City, San Francisco, San Antonio, Chicago, Cleveland, Toledo, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Lincoln, NE and the Kansas City metro area (including Missouri and Kansas).
Like Wonder Woman, great heartache and loss were the catalyst for Sara discovering her superpowers of storytelling, vulnerability, inspiration and hope to others. Growing up she was terrified to speak in public and was greatly influenced by her 4th grade teacher telling her she would never be a poet.
In September, 2015, three months after the death of her mother, Sara was invited to give her first paid poetry performance at the Uptown Arts Bar in Kansas City, MO. Her motherâs death affected her in such a way that she thought she would never write or perform poetry ever again, if she couldnât share it with her mother. However, she worked through her pain, walked outside her comfort zone and stepped up to the mic.
She often has a âtwinkle in her eyeâ when sharing stories and connecting with others. She loves to prove ânaysayersâ wrong, inspire others and be around bold, authentic, ârealâ people. Her poems are brief, raw and come straight from the heart. Sheâs a poet for the masses, writing about the full human experience of love, heartache, devastation, hope, love, rising above and having the courage to believe in yourself.
Sara placed 3rd in the first Micro Slam Poetry Competition she ever competed in and received a âperfect 10 scoreâ for her performance of the poem, â I Didnât Get To Be A Little Girl.â She encourages new poets and artists to embrace and share their personal stories. Sara is also a Founding Member of Jump Start Art, a nonprofit connecting emerging artists with community resources.
Her poems have appeared in numerous publications, including Thirteen Myrna Birds, Wine Drunk Sidewalk, Rye Whiskey Review, Dope Fiend Daily (2020); Angelâs Share Vol. 1 and 2, Hessler Street Fair 50th Anniversary Anthology, (2019), and Prompts! An Anthology (2016). Her third full length collection of poetry, Whiskey Sweet, is forthcoming in 2021 by Dark Heart Press.
Sara cares about stopping the stigma surrounding mental health care and wellness. She has been a featured guest on KMBZ, KC Live, Better Kansas City, 41 Action News and Fox 4 discussing important issues of teen su***de prevention, anti-bullying, the importance of play and ways for parents to connect with their kids.
