Today on 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆, we were proud to have Dr. Wade Iams, Director of Lung Cancer Research at the Greco-Hainsworth Centers for Research, join the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network - ACS CAN, the Alzheimer's Association, and the Arthritis Foundation at the Cordell Hull State Office Building in Nashville.

Together, they advocated for lawmakers to expand insurance coverage for biomarker testing—a critical tool in treating many cancers, diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease, and guiding care for a wide range of conditions. As Dr. Iams shared, “When we allow this testing to get done, we’re allowing our patients as much time as possible with their loved ones.”

We’re grateful to stand alongside partners who are working to improve access to life-changing care for patients across Tennessee.

Be shares, “I have spent 25 years working at Nashville Breast Center and Tennessee Oncology, supporting breast cancer patients through diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. I continue to be amazed at the extraordinary strength and resilience of our patients. I have developed such friendships with many of our patients. The advancements in early diagnosis, treatment care, and surgical options continue to move forward. I have been so fortunate to work in this field, both with the patients and the wonderful, committed staff. It has truly been a privilege.”

We at Tennessee Oncology believe one of our most powerful tools against cervical cancer is knowledge: understanding risk factors, recognizing the importance of screening, and knowing when to seek care.

Cervical cancer is treatable when caught early, and Dr. Michael Stany - a gynecologic oncologist here at Tennessee Oncology - shares a few tips to know when it's time for you to seek care.
