TCTSY is considered an evidence-based adjunctive treatment for post traumatic stress and complex trauma. *Note: TCTSY is considered an adjunctive treatment for post traumatic stress and complex trauma, meaning it’s intended as an additional support alongside therapy or other mental health treatment. TCTSY facilitators receive over 300 hours of training in trauma theory, attachment theory, and neuroscience, and are supported by clinicians and researchers at the Center for Trauma and Embodiment. TCTSY is not therapy, and yoga practices are not intended to be a space for processing trauma. Rather, these practices can provide opportunities for connection, which can support empowerment, insight and overall healing.

Enrollment is now open for our in-person Trauma Sensitive Yoga Group happening this spring at Mindful Nashville !

This group will meet in-person on Monday evenings May 2-June 20 from 7-8pm in the Mindful Nashville space at the 100 Taylor Arts Collective building.

Listening First Yoga is one of the few providers in Tennessee to offer TCTSY - Trauma Sensitive Yoga, a therapeutic form of Hatha yoga developed with and alongside trauma survivors at the Trauma Center outside of Boston. TCTSY facilitators receive over 300 hours of training in trauma theory, attachment theory, neuroscience, and best practices for supporting survivors of trauma. For some people, this practice can be a helpful support alongside therapy or other trauma treatment.

In this practice, we'll use accessible yoga movements, invitational language, and choice-making to practice connecting to our bodies in a gradual, self-directed way. Everything in this practice is optional, including how you move, where you direct your attention, and how you inhabit the space. You don't need any special clothing or equipment to practice this style of yoga. We'll have mats and props available for you to use, or you can feel free to bring your own!

Interested in joining? The first step is to complete a free 15-minute phone consultation. Click the link in our bio or visit our website to learn more and sign up!

*Note: TCTSY is not psychotherapy, and your yoga facilitator is not a mental health clinician. This group is not intended to be a space for processing trauma or talking about trauma experiences. Rather, it's a space to support connecting to our bodies and our resilience. Many practitioners do find it useful to have a counselor, therapist, or other support system in place alongside their yoga practice.

K. Lynne Odom, PT, MOMT

My intention is to EMPOWER men and women in a Dialogue with their body that supports FREEDOM in function and comfort with an emphasis on education and Mindful awareness.

After I graduated from UT-Memphis in 1994 I went straight into the PT world choosing to work primarily with men and women with Chronic Pain. I was drawn then to a Holistic Approach to healing. I chose this path because it gave me “permission” to look at the WHOLE body (as opposed to a single joint). I completed my Masters in Orthopedic Therapy in 1998 at about the same time I discovered what was referred to as “Women’s Health Physical Therapy”, a specialty area of Physical Therapy which addressed issues related to Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (Incontinence, Pre-and Post-Partum Pain and Dysfunction, and Pelvic Pain). This opened up for me a whole new awareness of the Musculoskeletal Role the Pelvic Floor plays in overall function, care, and BEING. The more men and women I saw for these conditions over time, the more I developed a greater respect for the need to be really PRESENT with the body....to begin a (or strengthen an already present) Dialogue with the Body....initiated by awareness of BREATH and habit.
