Meet the Team: Bruce Hoffmaster Jr. 🤝

As Division Manager, Bruce Hoffmaster Jr. oversees operations across the Central and Southeast U.S., bringing deep experience and a steady leadership style to every account he supports.

Bruce began his SMS career in 2006 as a Maintenance Technician at Francis Scott Key Mall. Over the years, he advanced through multiple roles across retail, maintenance, education, event venues, and more. From 2015 to 2017, he served as Division Manager in Nashville before continuing his career outside the company.

In 2022, Bruce returned to SMS as a Division Manager, once again leading teams across several regions and strengthening the service standards that define our work.

❄️ December Safety Spotlight ❄️

This month’s safety focus is on Cold, Flu, COVID-19, and the safe use of over-the-counter medications.

🔍 SEE IT
Cold and flu season runs from October through May, with cases often peaking in February. These illnesses, along with COVID-19, spread through the airborne droplets released during coughs and sneezes. In healthcare environments, recognizing symptoms early and understanding how these viruses spread is especially important.

✋ OWN IT
Help prevent the spread by keeping your distance when you feel sick, wearing a mask when needed, covering coughs and sneezes, washing your hands often, and disinfecting high-touch areas. If you are taking over the counter medications, follow dosage instructions, avoid mixing medications, and let your Supervisor or Site Manager know if symptoms or side effects could impact your work in patient areas.

📋 FIX IT
If you happen to experience symptoms, please consult a doctor and stay home when necessary to avoid exposing patients, visitors, and staff. Do not come to work with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis or when feeling unwell from the flu. Never try new medications during work hours, and avoid tasks that require full alertness if your medication causes drowsiness.

Safety in healthcare starts with consistent habits. Protect yourself, protect your team, and help create a safe and healthy environment for every patient.
