⚠️ March Safety Spotlight ⚠️

This month’s safety focus is on Bloodborne Pathogens (BBPs) and preventing exposure in healthcare environments.

🔍 SEE IT
Bloodborne pathogens are microorganisms that can cause disease when transmitted through blood or other infected body fluids. Exposure can occur through cuts or openings in the skin, or through the eyes, nose, and mouth. In healthcare environments, awareness of these risks is critical to maintaining safe, compliant facilities.

✋ OWN IT
Always wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), practice proper hand hygiene, and follow the correct disposal procedures for potentially contaminated materials. These steps help prevent contact with bodily fluids and reduce the risk of exposure.

📋 FIX IT
If a needlestick or other exposure incident occurs, report it immediately to a supervisor so the proper follow-up care can begin. Proper reporting and response help protect employees and maintain a safe healthcare environment.

Safety remains a top priority. By staying alert and following established procedures, we help keep facilities safe for everyone.

⚠️ February Safety Spotlight ⚠️

This month’s safety focus is on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

🔍 SEE IT
PPE is essential for protecting against exposure to chemicals, particles, and other hazards in healthcare environments. Proper PPE use supports infection prevention and helps protect patients, visitors, and staff during daily operations.

✋ OWN IT
Healthcare PPE may include gloves, gowns, masks or respirators, face shields, and eye protection. The type of PPE required depends on the task and any special precautions in place, such as isolation protocols. Always use PPE that is appropriate for your role and the environment.

📋 FIX IT
Know where PPE is stored at your site and how to properly don and doff each item. Hand hygiene must be practiced before putting on PPE and after removing it. Correct use and disposal of PPE helps reduce the spread of germs and supports safe patient care.

Safety starts with awareness and the right protection.
