Ascension Saint Thomas River Park is excited to celebrate the birth of Maelynn Rose Murray, born on Christmas Day at 10:27 a.m.

Weighing 9 lbs. 5 oz. and measuring 19 inches long, Maelynn made her festive debut to proud mom Trinity Murray on December 25, 2025.

We’re excited to welcome our first Christmas baby of 2025 🎄Baby Eliana Galex Duran Sosa born at 2:46 a.m. on Christmas morning. He arrived weighing 7 lbs., 11 oz. and measuring 20 inches long. 🥰

A special thank you to Kroger Health for helping make this moment even sweeter by providing a Christmas basket for the new mom and baby.

Victoria and Wayne Thornton faced two life-changing medical journeys just weeks apart, a kidney transplant and double-bypass heart surgery at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West. What began as uncertainty turned into a life-changing moment with one unexpected phone call.

Santa Paws 🎅 🐾 came early at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford 🎄

Our therapy dogs showed up in their best Christmas doggy attire for a holiday celebration full of wagging tails, happy barks, and plenty of cheer. These pups spend their days bringing comfort and calm to patients and families, and today was all about celebrating them and the volunteers who love and support them!

Proof that some of the best holiday joy comes on four legs and wears a festive sweater. 🎅 🎄

Earlier this year, Jim arrived at Saint Thomas Westlawn experiencing a heart attack, one he didn’t yet realize was life-threatening.

From the moment Jim arrived, care teams moved quickly and with purpose. Emergency doctors, nurses, and staff worked together. They made fast decisions that stabilized him and allowed him to be transferred for more care.

That teamwork saved his life.

After stabilization, Jim was placed under the care of Dr. M. Soubhi Azzouz at Saint Thomas Rutherford, who led the next step of his heart treatment.

Now, as Christmas approaches, Jim reflects with deep gratitude.

“The team didn’t just save my life,” he says. “They gave my children their father and my future grandchildren a grandfather.”

This Christmas, Jim is thankful for something greater than gifts under a tree. He is thankful for time, time he knows was not guaranteed ♥️

A Christmas Miracle at Ascension Saint Thomas 🎄

This season, we’re celebrating an extraordinary story of hope, healing, and perfect timing 💙

Last month, a husband and wife arrived at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West for very different reasons. He was recovering in the ICU after heart surgery, and she was on her third year of dialysis, still waiting for the call that could change her life.

At 2:39 a.m., that call finally came.
“We have a kidney for you.”

Within hours, she was on her way back to the hospital. The care team brought her husband down in a wheelchair so they could see each other before she went into surgery. That evening, she received her new kidney while he continued to heal just one floor above her.

A few days later, they walked out of the hospital together, both on the road to renewed health.

And as if that wasn’t enough… their first great-grandson was born during their hospital stay.

Now, just weeks later, they’re back to walking, exercising, and preparing for a Christmas surrounded by family ❤️ 💚
