When it comes to trauma, our bodies keep the score. But when we face that trauma, it can change our health outcomes, and our whole lives. This can be hard to do, so I think one powerful way to support ourselves through this is leaning into our spirituality.

If you have a higher source, there is real power in prayer.

This clip is from episode 489 of the Ancient Health Podcast with my friend Lizzie Blake. We talked about the powerful energy of prayer in times of crisis, and the ways tapping into prayer can help during (and after) traumatic events. If you’re in the middle of gut issues, try these herbs for supporting your small intestines:

🌿Vidanga Supreme(not wise for pregnancy!)
🌿Morinda Supreme

For links, please comment GUTS and I’ll send you links to these herbals. Remember, always look into them thoroughly (it’s so important to be your own health detective), and, because every person has different needs, you’ll want to run them by your primary care provider.

Always be extra cautious with anything you take while pregnant and breastfeeding (Supreme Nutrition Products also have information on their website about what not to take if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding: www.supremenutritionproducts.com).

Can you bend down and touch your toes? Do you have tight hamstrings?

For me, this is a clue that a patient’s colon and intestinal areas may need attention.

Here’s a tip for releasing your fascia to support your energy here. This will help if you have diarrhea or a constant urge to go:

Dig your finger (gently!) right in underneath your belly button, and rub, in a circular pattern, 30 seconds to a minute.

Remember, your gut issues won’t heal all in one go. So try doing this consistently, and use it as one tool in your toolkit.

Over on the podcast, we’re digging into how to treat diarrhea, so if you want more tips like this, you can get a link to the episode if you leave a comment with your go-to platform (Apple, Spotify, or YouTube) and I’ll DM you the link.💬

Here’s what I’ve found to be true in my 20+ years practicing; if you have unexplained symptoms, more often than not, it could speak to a hidden infection.

Three main common infections I’ve seen:

Strep
Epstein-Barr
Herpes virus of some sort

If you can’t find answers to your symptoms I would recommend asking your practitioner to test for one of these three. I personally love https://vibrant-wellness.com/ for testing.

One of the most common symptoms to look out for? I’m not trying to be graphic, but in my experience it comes down to your bladder control and bowel movements. If you’re struggling with either of these, that’s a major potential sign that your body may be fighting infection.

If you’d be interested in more information on these infections, let me know below. 💚

What if you have Lyme disease while pregnant? First, we don’t want to create fear for you. You can get through this and, as Dr. Eboni says, some women even feel better while pregnant.

Always work with your doctor or practitioner, and find a Lyme-literate specialist if you can.

Immune support is key: good food, rest, as much sleep as you can, time spent in sunshine and being good to yourself. Dr. Eboni (whose an expert on Lyme. Seriously, she’s President-Elect of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society) advises probiotics to provide that extra optimization of the gut.

Lyme is a master of disguise. It can look like an autoimmune condition, or chronic fatigue. My guest Dr. Eboni Cornish has even had patient with diagnosed psychiatric disorders that turned out to be tied to Lyme disease!

Dr. Eboni is associate director of Amen Clinics and the President Elect of ILADS, and Lyme’s impact on the brain is basically her specialty. Check out Episode 487 of the Ancient Health Podcast for an enlightening (and extremely hope-filled!) conversation on brain infections.

Acupressure doesn’t just heal your body...it can help you deal with your emotions!

In today’s podcast episode I break down how self-blame can impact your gallbladder in TCM, and how working on that gallbladder can help you feel better about yourself.

If you struggle with low self-regard, or if you’re always trying to measure up but never feel like you’ve made the grade, this can impact your health.

But there’s hope! Check out the full episode for remedies, herbs and other ways to assist you as you work on this issue. Leave a comment with your go-to platform (Apple, Spotify, or YouTube) and I’ll DM you the link.💬

How come your labs come back normal but you know you’re foggy-headed and just...not well? Has this happened to you?

Some labs just test for “normal range.” But, as my friend Dr. Amie Hornaman likes to say, it’s not about normal. It’s about optimal.

Normal just means average. It doesn’t necessarily mean well. That’s why I’m so passionate about functional testing!

Save this for your next doctor visit. ✨

Here’s a tip that helps remind us how much the body, mind and spirit are connected: crying helps your lungs detox in TCM.

Research has shown that crying is one of your body’s ways to release toxins! Not only is it important for emotional healing to allow ourselves to cry, it actually serves a healthy physical function, too.

For more on the connection between the lungs and our emotions in ancient medicine, check out Episode 485 of the Ancient Health Podcast. Leave a comment with your go-to platform (Apple, Spotify, or YouTube) and I’ll DM you the link.💬

Comment BREATHE and I’ll send you the link to my #1 homeopathic for lung issues! Do you have allergies that affect your breathing, or chronic problems catching your breath? Here are some ancient signs that you might be dealing with a lung imbalance:

Redness around your nose/nasal drip - In TCM, the lungs are connected to the nose.
Redness along the cheekbone
Chapped dry skin all over the body
Rashes

Comment BREATHE for the link to DesBio’s lung meridian opener.
