With deep sorrow I share the passing of my mentor and friend, Dr. Sam T. Hamra (1937–2025) of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He was not only a towering pioneer in facial aesthetic surgery — inventing the deep-plane and composite facelifts — but also a generous teacher whose door was always open to surgeons eager to learn. I had the privilege of training under him in the 1990s, and the lessons I carry forward — technical rigor, aesthetic judgment, and above all, caring for patients with integrity and heart — are all gifts from him. He truly changed how generations of us see facial rejuvenation.

Happy Surgical Tech week to Brooklyn! Brooklyn is crucial to a successful and safe surgery. She prepares and cleans up the OR, makes sure we have all the supplies and sterilizes all the instruments. She also applies all the bandages and dressings after the surgery. Which I think any patient will agree they were applied with care and love! Brooklyn is my right hand assisting me in the procedures and maintaining sterility and she does a dang good job! There’s so much more she does that goes unnoticed and I just want her to know I’m grateful. Thank you Brooklyn for all you do! Happy Surgical Tech Week!
