Grief doesn’t move on a timeline and neither does healing.

Even in seasons of loss, something new can begin quietly, gently, and in its own time.

Wherever you are today, may you find comfort in knowing that hope still has room to grow.

Leslie Methvin

Leslie VanSickle Methvin was born on March 16, 1960, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and passed away on March 3, 2026, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, with her daughter, Allison, by her side.

Leslie became an aunt at the age of seven, and she grew up alongside her nieces and nephew. In her early adult life, she enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and spending time with family. When she began her family with Bob, her focus became her children, education, career, and later her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: one daughter, Allison; two sons, Chris and Kyle; her daughter‑in‑law, Rojeena; and seven grandsons—Aidan, Gavin, Riley, and Patrick Lofton; Gabriel and Oliver Methvin; and Max Methvin. She is also survived by one sister, Ginny Johnson, and many nieces and nephews. Leslie was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her son, Clint; her parents, Wallace and Florine VanSickle; her sister, Kay Wiley; and her brother, Clarke VanSickle.

Leslie was a graduate of NCHS and later Northwestern State University, where she earned her degree in education. She taught for 20 years in the Rapides and Natchitoches Parish school systems. After the passing of her husband, Bob, she left her teaching career, feeling she had lost her desire to continue in the classroom. She later worked at Keep Safe Storage in Natchitoches for several years before retiring to spend her time with her dogs, Cotton and Millie, and her grandchildren.

Many thanks are extended to the NRMC Cancer Center for the compassionate care she received over the last few years. She was deeply grateful for their smiling faces and words of encouragement each time she walked through the door, even if she grumbled.

Leslie’s life will be celebrated on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church on 2nd Street in Natchitoches, Louisiana, with visitation to be held at Blanchard‑St. Denis Funeral Home from 5–7 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Interment will follow the service at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Charles E. Durr

Charles Everett Durr, a cherished husband, father, papa and friend, peacefully departed this life on February 24, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, at the age of 84. A noble servant of his country, Charles dedicated over 20 years to the military, proudly serving in the United States Army and later as a military police officer in the United States Air Force. His commitment took him to Spain and into the heart of the Vietnam War on two occasions, where he exemplified bravery and unwavering dedication.

After retiring from his military career, Charles returned to the old Durr place where his life's adventures began. In 2004, he met the love of his life. Sherry Haude Durr "his girl” whose companionship and affection brought him immense joy and fulfillment. They were married in November 2010, embarking on a beautiful journey together for the last 15 years.

A man of the great outdoors, Charles found solace and happiness in nature, particularly during deer hunting season with his beloved dogs. His loyal companion, Hank, was a constant presence, barking with excitement in the bed of the truck before ever trailing a deer. The laughter and camaraderie shared with his brothers, Bobby, Roger, and Jerry, were moments he treasured deeply, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Faith was the cornerstone of Charles' life; he lived each day with a steadfast belief in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry; children, Joseph Durr and Jacqueline Durr of South Carolina, and Chris and Shay Haude of Texas, son-in-law Raul Garza; grandchildren, Dawson, Ethan, Meagan, Morgan, Marena, Eugene, Liam, Julia, Makenzie, Elijah, Harrison, Tyler, Weston, Anna, Liberty, Noah, and Ian; along with his siblings Jerry Durr, Bobby and Linda Durr, Connie and Smitty Smith, Tammy Jo and Kevin Trichel, and a multitude of nephews, nieces, and friends.

Charles rejoins those who have gone before him, including his parents, Ernest and Lilliemae Durr, son Chris Durr, daughter Robyn Garza, and his siblings Roger Durr, Carrie Mae Byrd, Gloria Jean French, Lura Sue Irvin and Mary Masters; as well as a nephew Brad Durr.

While his absence will be profoundly felt, we find solace in the knowledge that Charles has ascended to his eternal home, embraced by the love of his Savior. He lived life to the fullest, radiating joy and compassion, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In our hearts, his legacy of love, adventure, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire us.

~ A Century of Light

One hundred years and four years more,

A treasure chest of tales in store

With eyes that hold the wisdom deep,

And promises you fought to keep.

A regal oak, through wind and rain,

You’ve smiled through joy and known the pain.

A legacy of grace you’ve sown,

The gentlest soul we’ve ever known.

With laughter lines that tell the tale,

A spirit that will never fair.

A shining light, a shining star,

We love you deeply for who you are. ~

Special thanks to our family members and friends for prayers and support. Thanks to Natchitoches Regional Hospital second floor staff. Dr. Wyche Coleman Sr., and staff at the Coushatta Clinic and Hospice of Natchitoches.
