Are you getting enough sleep… or just getting by?

Many people treat sleep like a luxury, but it is actually one of the most important things you can do for your health. In our latest podcast, NRMC CEO Kirk Soileau and Nicole Sanders, Supervisor of the NRMC Sleep Center, talk about how sleep affects everything from your heart health and metabolism to your immune system and mental wellbeing.

They also discuss common sleep disorders like insomnia and sleep apnea, signs that you may need a sleep study, and simple habits that can help you get better rest.

💤 Most adults need 7–9 hours of sleep each night, yet many people struggle to get quality rest. If you deal with loud snoring, trouble falling asleep, or constant daytime fatigue, it may be time to talk to your doctor.

Patient Safety Week continues at NRMC!

Tuesday’s theme was Good Catch Day – “Bingo, I Caught a Hazard.” Associates across the organization showed their support by dressing for the safety theme while focusing on identifying potential hazards and completing safety actions that help protect our patients and one another.

Recognizing and addressing risks before they become problems is a key part of our culture of safety and one of the reasons NRMC is proud to have earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group.

Patient Safety Week is underway at NRMC!

Monday’s theme was Speak Up Day – Loud & Proud, and departments across the organization showed their teamwork by wearing the same colors as part of a Color War. Associates also recognized coworkers who spoke up for safety, reinforcing that every voice plays an important role in protecting our patients.

Patient Safety Week highlights the importance of teamwork and a strong culture of safety in delivering high quality care. That commitment is reflected in NRMC’s recent “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, recognizing our dedication to patient safety and continuous improvement.

Honoring a Guardian Angel at NRMC

We are proud to recognize Sara Wilson, Speech Therapist at Louisiana Extended Care, as our newest Guardian Angel. Sara was nominated by a grateful family who shared how her compassion, attentiveness, and dedication made a meaningful difference in their loved one’s care.

After years of searching for answers regarding persistent voice issues, the family shared that Sara was the first professional who truly took the time to listen. She carefully reviewed medical history, asked thoughtful questions, and pursued appropriate testing to better understand the underlying cause. Her diligence helped bring the family closer to answers and a path forward after years of uncertainty.

What stood out most was Sara’s genuine compassion and the care she showed throughout the process. By taking the time to ensure her patient felt heard, understood, and valued, Sara demonstrated the kind of thoughtful, patient-centered care that defines the Guardian Angel spirit.
