BREAKING: Florida’s groundhog equivalent has been taken into custody… except it’s not a groundhog, it’s a very aggressive alligator named “Philbert.” 🐊
Authorities say he predicted “six more months of humidity” and immediately tried to retreat back into a retention pond behind a Publix.
Witnesses report he resisted arrest by doing a slow, disrespectful spin and hissing at deputies like he pays property taxes there.
Officials confirmed this isn’t his first offense. Last year he called for “early summer,” which in Florida translates to May through November with bonus thunderstorms.
When asked for comment, Philbert blinked once, submerged halfway into the water, and disappeared like a seasoned criminal.
Charges include: • Excessive humidity forecasting
Unlicensed swamp residency
And one count of “menacing the neighborhood duck population”
Trial date pending… assuming they can find him again.
