Last week, our residents enjoyed our annual Dessert Extravaganza! Everyone was greeted by Santa and were given a Christmas gift. While enjoying a variety of desserts, everyone enjoyed live music from Mrs. Claus! Some of the treats we enjoyed are apple pie, cherry pie, cherry cheesecake, vanilla and chocolate cake, Christmas cutouts, butterballs, snickerdoodles, and so much more. Last week, Altercare Navarre and Altercare Country Lawn sponsored a retirement celebration for Beth, the Executive Director of the Navarre Towpath Trail Branch YMCA. Our buildings have worked closely with Beth throughout the years as we have sponsored events for the Healthy Aging Group. Attendees of the celebration enjoyed chicken pinwheels, salad, chips, and cookies while listening to live music. Everyone was invited to say a few kind words about Beth and wish her luck in her retirement. Beth plans to enjoy retirement with her grandson, who is due next year, as well as travel more. We will miss Beth greatly, but cannot wait to work with Terri, the new Executive Director. Best of luck in your retirement, Beth!

Last week, Altercare Navarre and Altercare Country Lawn, along with other Senior Center Network facilities, helped assemble 150 Christmas bags for the Forever Young Seniors of the Canton Baptist Temple. Each bag was filled with canned goods, fresh fruit, gloves, scarves, and other essential items to brighten the season.

Afterward, all participating facilities gathered to serve lunch to the seniors and celebrate with festive Christmas songs. And of course, it wouldn’t be a true holiday celebration without Santa, who made a special appearance and happily listened to everyone’s Christmas wishes.

It was a heartwarming day of community, generosity, and holiday cheer shared by all. 🎄❤

Ho Ho Ho! Last weekend, Altercare Navarre and Altercare Country Lawn teamed up to spread some holiday cheer at Christmas in Bethlehem! Thanks to our amazing Dietary Coordinator, Val, we provided over 40 dozen cookies and plenty of hot cocoa for guests to enjoy. More than 300 visitors stopped by our table as they took part in the village festivities. It was a fun and festive event, and we were thrilled to be part of the celebration! 🎄❄

Yesterday, we had the honor of welcoming members of Beach City American Legion Weimer Widder Post 549 to our facility. During their visit, they recognized and thanked our veteran residents for their service. Everyone enjoyed patriotic music, cupcakes, and small flags to commemorate the occasion. The service concluded with a heartfelt group prayer. A special thank you to Beach City Legion Weimer Widder Post 549 for showing our veterans such kindness and appreciation. 💙

Recently, Altercare Country Lawn and Altercare Navarre joined forces at the Towpath Trail YMCA in Navarre. At the end of each month, the YMCA hosts Bingo for the community. Thank you to Jessica and Joan for representing Altercare and showing our community support.

Yesterday, we hosted our annual Trick or Treat and had a wonderful turnout! Trick-or-treaters went room-to-room to collect candy passed out by our residents. In our dining room, visitors enjoyed punch, cookies, and donuts, while listening to Halloween tunes. Along with the candy, kids got to take home witches cauldrons, filled with stickers, tattoos, and Halloween novelties. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween! 👻🎃

On Sunday, we were excited to get a visit from the Antique Car Club! A variety of vehicles came to our facility and drove by the residents. The car owners also stopped at the entrance to talk to the residents about their cars and show them a closer look. The residents loved listening to the sound of each car horn and compare them to other cars they’ve seen in the past. This was such a great event for get the residents outside and enjoy the last few days of summer.

Last week, the residents in our secured unit enjoyed a “car wash”! The residents walked outside through some streamers and were greeted with bubbles. They loved getting outside and walking through the car wash… some more than once!
