October is AAC Awareness Month! 🗣️💡

AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It includes a wide range of tools and strategies that help people communicate when speaking is difficult.

✨ What AAC can look like:

Picture boards or communication books 📖

Speech-generating devices or tablets 📱

Communication apps 💻

Gestures, sign language, or symbols 🤟

AAC is not just for children—it can support people of all ages with conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, apraxia of speech, stroke, and more.

AAC does not stop someone from developing speech—it often encourages it!

AAC gives individuals a way to express themselves, reducing frustration and increasing confidence.

Meet our Lumberton location SLPs!
Corynn Stokes & Hailey Thompson, M.S. CCC-SLP

Corynn was born and raised in Southeast Texas. She currently resides in Lumberton with her husband, Jason, and daughter, Josie. Corynn graduated from Lamar University with a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology degree in 2019. She is currently a licensed Speech Language Pathologist with the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). Her areas of interest includes articulation and phonological disorders, expressive and receptive language disorders, and gestalt language processing. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her husband and family, CrossFit, watch Hallmark Christmas movies, and iced coffee.

Hailey was born and raised in Lumberton, Texas. She currently lives in Lumberton with her husband, Jake, and daughter, Mabry. Hailey graduated from Lumberton High School in 2015 and then pursued a Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology at Lamar University. She is currently a licensed Speech Language Pathologist with the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). Her areas of interest include articulation and phonological disorders, language delays, and expressive and receptive language disorders. Hailey also has 4 years of experience with adult patients, including but not limited to stroke recovery, voice disorders, swallowing, and cognition. Hailey enjoys spending quality time with her family, being in the outdoors and crafting.

So the big news is....

TheraSPACE is coming to LUMBERTON!

No worries, our Mid County and Orange locations are not going anywhere. We are so excited to add a third location!! God has blessed us immensely the last five years and we appreciate the opportunity to serve all of SETX.

Our new space is under construction, but we should be open around October/November! We will be located on Country Lane, next door to Keith Wolfe - State Farm Insurance Agent's new office.

Now accepting adult/pediatric patients and preparing a contact list for when appointment scheduling opens. We accept most major insurances, as well as Medicare/Medicaid. Call to reserve your spot today! 409-344-9089
