✨ Family Fun Friday: Tape Art Night! ✨

Looking for a creative activity that’s fun, simple, and not too messy? Tape Art Night is a perfect way to spark creativity and make something truly unique together.

All you need is painter’s tape, paper or canvas, and some paint or markers. Use the tape to create fun designs, zigzags, shapes, stripes, names, or even hearts and stars. Then paint right over the tape and let it dry.

The best part? Peeling off the tape to reveal the finished design it’s always a big wow moment! 🎉

This is a great activity for all ages and a fun reminder that simple materials can lead to beautiful FUN!

🧠 Practice coping tools
💬 Stay connected and supported

Summer sessions tend to fill quickly, so if you're considering a group, we encourage reaching out early to find the best fit for your child or teen. We’d love to help guide you toward the right option!

Curiosity Doesn’t End When We Grow Up

We often talk to our kids about trying new things, meeting new people, and stepping outside their comfort zone…

But the truth is, we feel nervous about new experiences too.
Trying something new as an adult can feel exciting and awkward all at the same time.

When our kids hear us talk about our own curiosity, nerves, and excitement, it shows them that growth doesn’t stop at any age. It reminds them that feeling unsure is normal and trying anyway is brave.

Talking about our experiences out loud helps create a home where curiosity feels safe and encouraged.

Things to Say Out Loud So They Hear It:

💃 “I’m so excited to try this new dance class even if I feel a little awkward at first!”

🎨 “Trying new things can feel scary, but it’s also how we grow.”

🍽️ “I’m nervous to try this new place, but I think it could be fun!”

Keep growing yourself and it will encourage them to do the same!!

When Their Curiosity Starts to Feel… Really Grown Up

One day it’s playdates and group hangs…
and the next it’s a new friend you haven’t met yet, asking to go to the movies without adults, or even holding hands with someone.

GAH. It can feel so grown up, so real, and honestly....a little scary for us as parents.

But here’s the thing:
Curiosity is part of being a teenager. Wanting to try new things, meet new people, and expand their world is completely normal.

And it’s also completely normal for us to feel nervous about it.

We were once teens too, curious, excited, wanting independence, and figuring things out as we went. Our kids are doing the same now.

Instead of focusing only on the worry, try to also notice the positives, confidence building, independence growing, and trust forming between you and your teen.

Supporting their curiosity while teaching boundaries helps them explore safely and keeps communication open when it matters most.

Some tips for us grown-ups:

💬 Keep the dialogue open
Ask questions with curiosity, not panic. The goal is conversation, not shutdown.

🧭 Teach boundaries alongside independence
Talk about expectations, safety, and respect before situations happen.

🌱 Acknowledge your own nerves
It’s okay to feel uneasy, this is new territory for you, too.

✨ Focus on growth, not just risk
Trying new things builds confidence, problem-solving, and resilience.

I found the scissors
where they actually belong.

Not in a drawer full of mystery items.
Not hidden under paper scraps.
Not missing for three weeks.

Right where they were supposed to be.

Order has been restored on a Monday. ✂️👏

🍿 Family Fun Friday Idea: YES DAY Movie Night

Let the kids run the show (within reason 😄):

🎬 They vote on the movie
🍿 They pick the snacks
🛋️ They choose where everyone sits

Build a pillow pile or couch nest,
dim the lights,
and lean into the fun of letting them take the lead for the night.

Sometimes the best family nights
are the ones where parents step back
and let the kids feel in charge.

Introducing Clayful Coping — a therapeutic group where creativity meets emotional growth. 🏺

Clayful Coping is a hands-on therapeutic group focused on helping kids build emotional regulation and coping skills through clay activities.

Through both guided and open-ended clay projects, group members will learn how to:
🎨 Express feelings in creative ways
🧠 Build healthy coping strategies
💛 Practice emotional regulation
🤝 Feel supported in a safe, welcoming group setting

Participants will also create meaningful clay pieces to take home — reminders of the skills and strategies they’ve learned along the way.

Creative expression can be a powerful tool for helping kids understand their feelings and build confidence in how they handle challenges.

If your child benefits from hands-on learning and creative expression, this group may be a wonderful fit.

Sometimes the things we do as adults — like taking a drive, listening to music, or getting out to see something new — are more than just a break.

They’re examples.

When kids see us make space for joy, rest, and small adventures, they learn that it’s normal to take care of themselves too. That it’s okay to step away, reset, and enjoy life — not just push through it.

Here are a few reminders worth modeling this week:

🚗 “It’s okay to take a drive just to listen to music and clear your head.”

🌄 “It’s healthy to want to see new sights and get a change of scenery.”

💛 “Taking time for yourself isn’t selfish — it’s how we stay well.”

Kids don’t just listen to what we say —
they watch what we do.

And sometimes the best lessons
are the ones we live out loud.

Why your teen is nicer in the car 🚗

Ever notice your teen opens up more when you're driving?
That’s not random — it’s actually brain science at work.

When you're side-by-side instead of face-to-face,
there’s less pressure, less eye contact,
and more space to talk without feeling "on the spot."

Car rides can become some of the best connection time —
even if it starts with small talk about music or snacks.

Sometimes the best conversations happen
when you're not forcing them.

So as much as the driving them around can get a bit tiring, remember it is such a great time for some great connection! And one day soon, they will be the ones driving, so enjoy them as passengers as much as you can!
