Congratulations to Kasey Hayes, RN, in our Emergency Department, recipient of our 15th DAISY Award! Nominated by both a patient and a family member, Kasey was recognized for her warmth, compassion, technical expertise, and ability to bring comfort during difficult moments.

"Kasey is warm, caring, funny, and a wonderful nurse. My husband had severe pain from kidney stones, and Kasey's upbeat attitude made a horrible experience more tolerable...She kept us laughing, and when we finally left the hospital, we talked about how wonderful she was."

From easing the pain of kidney stones with kindness and humor to providing expert care and reassurance during a first-time procedure, Kasey made a lasting impact on her patients and their families.

Thank you, Kasey, for embodying the skillful, compassionate care that defines BID Needham. 💙

Carbon monoxide, often called “the silent killer”, is an odorless, tasteless, colorless, and poisonous gas. According to Dr. Cliff Berger, Chief of Cardiology at BID-Needham, one of the dangers of carbon monoxide exposure is how easily it can be mistaken for flu or cold-like symptoms.

Congratulations to our latest recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse, Debra Holmes, ADN, RN! 🌼 Debra, a case manager on our medical surgical units, was nominated for her compassion, respect and care by one of her nursing colleagues.

Her nomination form reads in part: In recent months, many of our patients have had difficult pasts, extreme behavioral issues or have been abandoned by family and friends. In every situation, Debra takes the time to understand their needs, discover their past, and make sure they are well taken care of in the hospital and safely transitioned out."

Debra exemplifies everything the DAISY Award stands for: compassion, clinical excellence, professionalism, teamwork, and advocacy. She is a role model not only in how she cares for patients, but in how she treats their families, colleagues, and community.

Thank you, Debra! 💙
