Ellie Fund

Ellie Fund Supporting Patients. Funding Care. Providing Hope. Easing the stress of everyday life through essential support services for breast cancer patients.

The Ellie Fund’s Healing Together Patient and Family Care Program (Healing Together Program) was established to provide for the immediate needs of breast cancer patients and family members. All services are available free of charge and accessible to those most needing assistance. About 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer in their lifetime (source: www.BreastCancer.org). Despite advances in treatment options, early detection and prevention, there are approximately 5,890 (source: www.cancer.org) new cases of breast cancer in Massachusetts each year, and even more women living with breast cancer for years. A breast cancer diagnosis means physical, emotional and financial stress, not only on the patient but the entire family. The Ellie Fund’s staff interviewed oncology social workers and breast cancer patients to fully understand what support they needed during breast cancer treatment to maintain some sense of normalcy in their homes. Based on these discussions, the Ellie Fund created the Healing Together Program in 2005, providing critical support services such as grocery cards, prepared/delivered meals, transportation to medical appointments, childcare, and light housekeeping. The Ellie Fund was founded in 1995 by Jeff and Eliot Popkin to honor their mother Eleanor “Ellie” Popkin’s courageous fight against breast cancer and the giving spirit for which she was known.

What a POWERFUL day on this past Saturday!
With more than 20 beloved Beacon Hill businesses coming together to turn the street PINK. We at visited storefronts, snapped smiles, and celebrated community and courage.
From ’s iconic style to ’s sweet treats (and every shop in between). These local champions stepped up for breast-cancer patients & families in Massachusetts. According to the Beacon Hill Times, the event supports Ellie Fund’s mission of providing non-medical essential services so healing becomes the focus.
Gratitude to EVERY business who opened their doors, donned pink, donated a portion of sales, offered something special and to our Executive Director Meredith who led each stop with heart.

On Saturday October 18, the Ellie Fund team joined the Hope & Safety Breast Cancer Together in Wellness Fair, standing proudly with healthcare providers, advocates, and survivors to spread awareness, resources, and hope.

From heartfelt conversations to empowering education, this day reminded us why we do what we do; to make sure every patient in treatment feels supported beyond the hospital walls. Whether it’s childcare, transportation, meals, or emotional support, Ellie Fund is here to help lighten the load.

Today, we also honor National Mammography Day— a vital reminder that early detection truly saves lives.
Did You Know?

Mammograms can detect breast cancer up to three years before it can be felt.
* Women 40 and older should schedule a mammogram *every 1–2 years, or earlier if they’re at higher risk.
* Regular screenings have reduced breast-cancer mortality by roughly 40 percent in recent decades.

Together, through awareness + access, we’re building a future where no one faces breast cancer alone.

Thank you to the incredible organizers, volunteers, and community partners who made this weekend’s event so impactful especially ; and to everyone encouraging their loved ones to schedule a mammogram this month. 💗

➡️ Swipe to see our team in action at the Fair — spreading love, awareness, and life-saving information across Massachusetts!
