Meet David!

David called to inquire about help packing/unpacking boxes for the move to his new condo. Soon we were planning and packing for his new home.

His love in the kitchen was evident and we carefully evaluated the space needed for his favorite items. David also loves art and family photos and his storage area was filled with items he hadn't viewed in many years. We went through many boxes prior to the move and some decisions were made to donate or share with others. Many pieces still made the move.

As we worked together, I could see a shift in his personal style and those items packed away didn't reflect the person he is today. As we hung his art, he agreed that some pieces didn't fit his current interest. We found his favorite family photos (the pieces that brought the biggest smiles) and created special space in his home for those.

David is still working through his collection and family photos and making decisions on next steps for selling or preserving memories.

David's home is becoming a perfect reflection of him.

As 2026 rolls in it brings the annual task of cleaning up my 2025 files. As I paged through them, I recalled so many of the stories shared by the 43 seniors and families I worked with throughout the past year.

Each situation is unique as is my approach. Some needed help planning furniture for their new space so not to bring to much keeping storage needs, emotional wants and safety consideration in mind. With others we went through each cupcoard and cabinet deciding on what can be downsized and what will come along.

Packing and unpacking boxes is just the physical tasks of my job. The real benefit is the peace of mind it brings to the client when all is settled into place knowing they made the small decisions along the way and the transition went smoothly.

What a pleasure it was this week to join Touchmark in sharing information hoping to inspire a few to surround themselves what brings them joy now.

It was an incredible group that shared honest thoughts and concerns in letting go of “stuff”. No guilt, but moving forward to live your best life.

Baby Steps…..Remember when your child learned to walk? A little unsure but wanting to get there on their own. You gave them a hand to steady themselves and build confidence as they become stronger.

Same concept when downsizing and deciding what to let go of. Partnering with the right person who can get you learning how to take the first steps, support you and cheer you on!

Take advantage of the next couple of months to get started while our Wisconsin moves from winter into spring keeping us indoors.

So happy to have helped a lovely client reorganize her sewing room so that she could enjoy it in her new senior living apartment. The decision to leave her farmhouse was difficult enough that she didn’t want to leave her sewing hobby behind. Together we sorted, shared stories, donated and organized the items she would use for her favorite projects. And today her sewing machines are humming again….. 💕
