Shaklee Nutrition Provides the Nutritional Needs for the Pilots of the Historical Voyager Flight.

In 1986, Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager made history by completing the first flight around the world without stopping or refueling, accomplishing that feat in the Rutan Model 76 Voyager. Throughout the course of their nine-day flight, the two pilots were provided a number of nutritional food items produced by the Shaklee Corp., based in San Francisco. Pictured here are Shaklee-produced energy bars and different flavored soups and shake packets. Shaklee nutritional products where lightweight for the flight and provided the pilots the nutrition and hydration needs they had for making this historical flight. As a former Senior Nutritionist for Shaklee Corporation, my Shaklee Scientist colleagues, previous to my time working at the Shaklee laboratories, were responsible for providing the Shaklee nutrition products for the flight around the world. The Voyager aircraft now fits snugly hanging under the rooftop of the lobby of The National Air And Space Museum in Washington D.C. for display.

THE STORY BEHIND HERBAL BLEND.

Did you all know that Dr. Shaklee originally wanted to sell what is now Herbal Blend as an acne cream? The FDA said it required a prescription - soooooo he said we will call it Foot Cream (no script needed there!) For decades it was sold as Foot Cream - but we called it the Owie cream in my family! It helps with all owies! Then some time back they renamed it to Herbal Blend MultiPurpose Cream.
It works on Acne and Feet, rub it in your temples to relieve a headache, still the best moisturizer for folks who suffer with cracked and dry hands (or any part), I know someone who used it on her scars after shoulder replacement surgery - and the scars are barely there, I have salons who apply it immediately after waxing to soothe the skin, and of course mosquito bites and bee stings. Did you know that in 1987 Shaklee was selected by Jacques Cousteau, and the Cousteau Society, to provide environmentally friendly cleaning products for use onboard their research vessels, the Calypso and Alcyone.

**Before Jacques-Yves Cousteau, the ocean was a mystery to most of us — distant, dark, and unreachable.
But Cousteau changed all that.
Born in France in 1910, he was more than just a diver. He was a visionary who helped the world see beneath the surface — and fall in love with it.
In 1943, Cousteau and engineer Émile Gagnan invented the Aqua-Lung — the first modern scuba device that allowed people to breathe underwater on their own. It turned divers into explorers and opened up an entire planet beneath the waves.
Then, in 1956, he directed The Silent World — a revolutionary underwater documentary that won both an Academy Award and the Palme d'Or at Cannes. For the first time, people saw colorful reefs, mysterious fish, and sunken ships in vivid detail.
From 1968 to 1976, his iconic TV series The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau brought coral gardens and deep-sea creatures into living rooms across the globe. He made marine science accessible, exciting, and unforgettable.
But Cousteau didn’t stop at wonder — he turned it into action.
In 1973, he founded the Cousteau Society to protect marine ecosystems. Long before “climate change” was a household term, he was sounding the alarm about pollution, ocean acidification, and biodiversity loss — always with a spirit of hope.
His message was clear:
We must protect what we love.
Today, his legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren, like Jean-Michel and Alexandra Cousteau, who carry the torch for ocean conservation.
Cousteau gave us more than footage of fish.
He gave us a reason to care.**
