Today we honor and celebrate a faithful servant, Karen, whose life has been a beautiful testimony of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the Lord. 💛

For 42 years, Karen and her husband, Ben, served in Africa, arriving in what is now Zimbabwe in 1976. Through decades of ministry, she poured into countless lives teaching Bible studies to all ages, leading support groups for widows and single mothers, and offering comfort through hospice and grief counseling. Her hands and heart were always open to those in need.

Even after returning to the U.S., Karen continued her calling with Choices. She began volunteering faithfully mentoring women, sharing the Gospel, and walking alongside clients with grace and wisdom. She found deep joy in building relationships creating a safe space where women could be heard, encouraged, and pointed to Christ.

Karen loved seeing lives transformed, women growing in faith, families strengthened, and little ones thriving. She often shared that while she helped many mothers, they also helped shape her understanding and compassion in return. And of course, she treasured every moment spent holding babies and loving on toddlers.

At Choices, volunteers like Karen are truly an integral part of our team. They are the hands and feet of Jesus in this ministry bringing hope, encouragement, and truth to every person who walks through our doors. We simply could not do this work without them.

Last month, Karen officially retired from volunteering, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to impact lives for years to come. While we will deeply miss her presence, we are so grateful for the years she poured into this ministry and the countless hearts she touched.

If you’ve ever felt the desire to make a difference like Karen, we would love to talk with you about volunteering. There is a place for you here to serve, love, and impact lives.

Her legacy is one of faithfulness, humility, and genuine love for people. It has truly been an honor to serve alongside her.
