Some say weāre an odd couple. I (Kim) am a former leader in the corporate marketing and training world, yoga/meditation/mindfulness teacher, and Graham is a musician. I prefer the quiet world behind the scenes, and he loves the spotlight. I float to meditate and relieve anxiety, and he floats to relax the body. And weāre both honored and elated to bring this space to our community.
We never really dreamed of opening a business together, but the universe unfolded that path for us, and we joyfully accepted. (We actually met as co-workers at a restaurant that was known for itās āsugar waterā used to sweeten the tea, so itās funny that we dedicate ourselves to a business thatās known for itās salt water now!)
I heard about floating many years ago and became infatuated with it. At the time, we didnāt have any centers near us, but before I had even set foot in a float tank, I knew we would open a float center one day. Iād been teaching yoga and meditation for a few years, and Iād seen firsthand the transformation that occurs when people are provided the space to connect body, breath, and mind. Floating just seemed like a natural fit with my love for yoga and seeking release and relief from lifeās stresses.
I grew up in a family where itās a badge of honor to be overworked, exhausted, and often unfulfilled. Iāve watched almost every single family member battle chronic illnesses, disease, and injuries, and I knew I wanted to try something a bit different. I couldnāt escape that genetic work ethic, but Iāve channeled my hard work into serving others wherever I can. After learning about and seeing the sense of relief from those who have chronic pain, I was even more determined than ever to make the vision of providing float therapy a reality, but I let it simmer quietly in my head for about a year.
