Congratulations to Jennifer Tomlinson for being named Service First Champion for the first quarter! Jennifer, who serves as the customer service coordinator for the Baptist Cancer Center, was nominated by a colleague for going above and beyond to help their family member. The colleague’s father was scheduled for a diagnostic scan, and due to confusion, entered through the Baptist Cancer Center. Jennifer parked the gentleman’s car and transported him by wheelchair to admissions to ensure he received the right care at the right place at the right time. The nomination stated, “Jennifer went above and beyond to make sure my dad was taken care of that day because he was very confused and weak. She will never know how appreciative I am for helping him that day.” It is outstanding team members like Jennifer who truly make a difference at Baptist Union County and in the lives of our patients and families.

The ice storm of 2026 will long be remembered for the impact it had on our community. Through all the obstacles and outages, Baptist Union County colleagues showed up and shined bright as they demonstrated service above self. Their commitment to caring for patients was evident by the willingness to work long days and extra shifts, as well as adapt to the challenges that were faced. Team members checked on each other and assisted those in need. We are beyond grateful to all team members, physicians, providers, managers, and directors that worked in unison to provide quality patient care. You truly are healthcare heroes!
