This is such an important message. Often, parents unintentionally get so caught up in their own stress and struggles that they forget that their children are also going through the stress with them. What is assumed as resilience of a child during traumatic events, almost always presents itself in other ways and at different times during childhood.

A young child growing up in an alcoholic home with parents who fight all the time may become a pr***en filled with anxiety or depression. Another child who experienced the death of a loved one may become angry and withdrawn as a teen. Children can feel the emotions in a home even when parents think they are hiding it well. The stress can have a huge impact on their growth and development. Not only is it so beneficial for adults to get counseling when struggles arrise but being proactive and getting help for your kids can save you many years of frustration and worry as they get older.

Hello! My name is Shannan and I am one of the counselors and co-owner of Infinite Grace Counseling that operates inside ECCO bookstore. Beginning March 1st, we will be going entirely virtual and will see clients through video or phone as our family is moving. We hope that this allows us to reach many more people in Michigan. It also allows us more availability with scheduling than we currently have.

We are still accepting new clients and as always, are more than happy to work with anyone regardless of his or her financial situation. We are not closing, only transitioning to a new format. Please keep us in mind if you know anyone who could benefit from our services.

Many of our clients come from recommendations from other clients and we are so thankful for every one of you! We appreciate your continued support during this transition and for the opportunity to keep doing what we love- helping others and serving our community. Now that the official order has been given to stay at home, we want all of our clients to know that we are still here for appointments. We will email you a link before your appointment time and once you click on it, it will take you to our video office where we can meet through video. There is nothing to download and you can use your home computer or your phone. We also have more flexibility now on days and times for appointments.
