🚨 DRIVING BAN IN EFFECT – TRAVEL IS NOT ADVISED 🚨

Road conditions across the city as well as the state highway have significantly deteriorated and are now extremely hazardous. Visibility is extremely low. No one should be attempting to travel at this time. We are accumulating snow at a very rapid rate.

⚠️ The mayor declared a state of emergency for this storm. A DRIVING BAN is in effect until noon and may be extended.

Under a state of emergency governed by Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40, Section 22F, the Mayor has the legal authority to regulate or prohibit travel on public roadways to protect public safety.

When a driving ban is in effect, only exempt vehicles, such as emergency responders, public works, utility crews, and other essential personnel are permitted to operate. All other travel is prohibited for the duration of the ban.

πŸš— Why this matters:
β€’ Vehicles on the road create dangerous conditions for themselves and others
β€’ Emergency crews need clear access to respond to calls for service
β€’ Conditions may worsen rapidly due to snow, ice, and reduced visibility

🏠 What you should do:
β€’ Stay home and avoid all non-essential travel
β€’ Check on neighbors if it is safe to do so
β€’ Continue to monitor official updates and alerts

Your cooperation is critical to public safety. Please stay off the roads and allow emergency personnel to do their jobs safely.
