The Craven County Health Department, along with other county offices, will be closed December 24 - 26 for the Christmas holiday.
We wish you all a very happy holiday season!

Craven County Government offices will be closed on Wednesday, December 24, Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26 in observance of Christmas. Offices will reopen on Monday, December 29.
♻️Solid Waste Convenience Centers will be closed and will reopen on Saturday, December 27. Curbside pickup will not run on Thursday, December 24. Thursday routes will be serviced on Friday. Friday routes will be serviced on Saturday.
🚌CARTS will offer limited operations on Wednesday, December 24, and Friday, December 26, for PORT Health and dialysis trips.

We are excited to share information about the Faith Leaders for Life initiative, a free virtual su***de prevention program available to faith leaders in North Carolina. This program is designed to equip our faith leaders with the essential skills needed to support our community's mental health.✨

What is the Program?

Program: LivingWorks Faith is a FREE virtual program designed for ministry leaders who want to learn more about preventing su***de, intervening in a crisis, and ministering to their congregations needs around su***de.

What It Is: A free, five-week virtual training focused on su***de prevention, intervention, and postvention.

Who It's For: Faith leaders in North Carolina (ordained ministers, lay leaders, chaplains, etc.).

Time Commitment: Includes a 5-6 hour online course and 1.5-hour weekly discussion groups.

🎯 Key Goals for Our Community
Intervene: Train leaders to recognize and respond to warning signs of su***de risk in congregants.
Programming: Help leaders integrate su***de prevention activities (like sermons and events) into church life.
Respond: Prepare leaders to confidently minister and respond when the community experiences a loss to su***de.

📅 Important Dates:
Applications will be accepted Dec 8, 2025 - Jan 6, 2026
Orientation: Jan 13. 2026
Session dates: Jan 20, Jan 27, Feb 3, and Feb 10

The Health Department phone system is currently being updated and has caused the main phone number (252-636-4920) to be down. A temporary number has been set up until further notice. Please call 252-275-4390 to contact the Health Department.
As soon as the main number has been restored, an update will be posted.

Craven County Government offices will be closed on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 for Thanksgiving. Offices will reopen on Monday, December 1.

🚌CARTS will offer limited operations for PORT Health and dialysis trips.

♻️Curbside trash and recycle pickup will not run on Thursday. Thursday pickups will occur on Friday. Friday pickups will occur on Saturday.
🛝Parks will operate on normal hours.
