The Lunch Bunch reeled in another great afternoon today at one of our favorite spots — Pirate’s Cove! We dug into delicious shrimp and oysters, shared great conversations, and enjoyed even better company. And judging by the giant shark mouth we posed in front of, it’s safe to say the only thing getting eaten today was our lunch — not us! 🦈😄

Today, we had the incredible honor of celebrating Mr. Donald’s 100th birthday! Our Navion family gathered together to celebrate this remarkable milestone and the wonderful life he’s lived. When you turn 100, what’s the birthday treat of choice? Banana splits, of course! So we whipped up banana splits for everyone and enjoyed a sweet afternoon filled with smiles, stories, and celebration. What a special day for a truly special gentleman! 🎉

Today, in our Cooking Club, we had an absolute blast making delicious turtle candies! The recipe was simple, fun, and oh-so-tasty. All it takes is a mini pretzel topped with a Rolo, a quick melt, and a pecan pressed on top—easy as that! Everyone had a great time creating these sweet treats, but I think it’s safe to say we enjoyed eating them even more. Even the staff couldn’t resist joining in on the fun!

Today, we honor and celebrate all veterans, with a special tribute to the brave men and women here at Navion of New Bern. We are deeply grateful for their service and sacrifice. To show our appreciation, each veteran received a personalized certificate of appreciation along with a cozy throw blanket representing their branch of the military—whether Navy, Air Force, or another proud service. Our ceremony concluded beautifully with the stirring performance of the National Anthem, sung by one of our very own residents and former opera singer, Laurie. It was a truly meaningful day filled with respect, gratitude, and community.

Today, the Lunch Bunch crew decided to step out of our comfort zone and try something new — a visit to Morgan’s Tavern in beautiful downtown New Bern. The food was absolutely delicious and certainly did not disappoint! Judging by Wilma’s big smile, it’s safe to say everyone enjoyed every bite.

We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout at our Trunk or Treat event last Thursday! 🎉🚗🍬 A huge thank you to everyone who decorated their trunks, passed out candy, and helped create such a fun and festive evening. 👏🎃 We’re also grateful to the families who came out 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 and to the incredible staff who made it all possible. 💖

But the true highlight of the night was watching our residents light up ✨😊 as they greeted the children in their costumes. 👻🧙‍♀️🦸‍♂️ The smiles, the laughter 😂, and the excitement 🎈 brought back so many cherished memories of Halloweens past — reminding them of their own children, grandchildren, and the joy of community traditions. 🕯️🍁 Moments like these are what make events like this truly special. ❤️🎃

It’s been a super fun and spooky week here at Navion of New Bern as we celebrated Halloween in style! 🎃👻

Our residents enjoyed a week full of festive activities — from decorating Halloween cookies and pumpkins to tackling Halloween-themed puzzles and word games that kept everyone laughing and engaged. In our Cooking Club, we whipped up a delicious batch of candy corn pretzel bark, and it was a big hit!

We’ve had such a wonderful time getting into the Halloween spirit together — the laughter, creativity, and smiles have filled our community all week long. 🧡

🌟 Welcome to the Team, Jessica! 🌟

We are so excited to introduce the newest member of our team — Jessica McNair, our new Business Office Manager!

Here’s a little note from Jessica:

“Hello! My name is Jessica McNair, and I’m brand new to New Bern, having moved over 3,300 miles from the beautiful West Coast of Washington State. I didn’t have a specific reason for choosing New Bern other than feeling that this is where the Lord led us. I moved here with my brother and his wife from Port Angeles, where I was born, though I spent most of my life in Kalispell, Montana — a lovely town on Flathead Lake near Glacier National Park. The winters there are very cold, so I’m looking forward to some warmer weather!

I love to paint (though I’m still learning!) and am a proud Seattle Seahawks fan — so if you know any great places to watch the games, let me know!

I’ve worked in health care for nearly 15 years, starting out as a CNA and eventually becoming an Assistant Executive Director at a Memory Care ALF. I’m really enjoying working here so far and feel so blessed and grateful to be part of this amazing community.”

There’s nothing quite like ice cream to bring people together! Our residents enjoyed a delightful afternoon sharing smiles and conversation over sweet ice cream cones during our ice cream social. It was a simple treat that made for a joyful day at our community.
