It’s National Play Therapy Week!
What can you do today that’s playful?

"Good job" is ingrained in so many of us. So many of us heard it from parents, caregivers, teachers, and other adults in our lives. It's such a common thing to say to young kids.

Saying "good job" isn't inherently bad or wrong. But what if we acknowledged them in a more specific and meaningful way, instead? What if when we hear ourselves say "good job" we added one of these phrases next?

Often the intention behind "good job" is to try to communicate to that kiddo that we notice them. When we say it a lot though, it can start to feel like empty praise rather than genuine acknowledgment and connection.

Is "good job" a phrase that comes up for you in the moment?

Excited to be a part of NBCC Foundation's 2020 Bridging the Gap Virtual Summit with live sessions November 14-20 with on-demand access November 16 - December 13. I will be presenting on "Play Therapy Skills for Building Resiliency with Military Families"

Here is their mission and goal for this summit:
"Scholarships, capacity-building grants, and innovative trainings are the Foundation’s primary tools for accomplishing the objectives of increasing the number of National Certified Counselors; ensuring that they work in high priority areas; and engaging them in the innovation of counseling practices for underserved military, rural, and minority communities.

All proceeds from the 2020 Bridging the Gap Virtual Summit go directly to fund NBCC Foundation programs. With your help, we can meet our goal of $100,000.

When you register for the Summit, you decide what you want to pay to attend, starting from just $25 for access to the entire event. There are no other fees for attendance, and every cent of your registration fee goes directly to the NBCC Foundation."

After considering the format of this training, I decided to change to a two hour training. There is plenty of content and worth investing more time in however at this time a 2 hour webinar seems a good fit. Thank you for your understanding :) Lisa
